Workshop "Research on application of nuclear science and technology in medicine"

24/11/2024
From October 18, 2024 to October 20, 2024, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) organized the Workshop "Research on the application of nuclear science and technology in medicine" in Hanoi, Vietnam.

VAST, as the leading science and technology agency under the Government of Vietnam, and the Plenipotentiary Representative of Vietnam at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research Dubna (JINR), has implemented many research projects not only in the atomic and nuclear fields but also in the application of that technology in life sciences, materials science, information technology, and especially in medicine. Currently, the application of nuclear medicine in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, especially cancer, is becoming increasingly popular with the advantages of accuracy, safety and high treatment efficiency.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Tuan Anh, Vice President of the VAST, Plenipotentiary Representative of Vietnam at JINR, emphasized: "VAST focuses on developing the application of atomic energy for peaceful purposes in many other scientific fields such as materials, biology and medicine. Based on the extensive research and scientific team, through reports and experience sharing at the Workshop, the Academy will propose upcoming studies in this field to the national atomic energy development plan". The Vice President expressed his hope that the participation of managers will help build a mechanism to guide the development of atomic energy technology and its application in other socio-economic sectors.
