Workshop on sustainable management of marine resources and marine environment protection
This seminar brought together many scientists from prestigious universities and research institutes in France, including the French Institute for Research and Development (IRD), Littoral Côte d'Opale University, the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), and University of Toulouse. On the side of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, there were the participation of scientists from the Institute of Environmental Technology, leaders of USTH, and staff, lecturers and students of the university.
Prof. Jean - Marc Lavest delivers the opening speech
Speaking at the opening of the seminar, on behalf of the USTH Board of Managers, Prof. Jean - Marc Lavest said that the topic of this seminar is towards hot issues of today's society and attracts great attention from the community. The seminar is also very meaningful in the context of responding to Vietnam Sea and Islands Week and World Oceans Day 2022.
At the seminar, the delegates shared and discussed the analysis and modeling of factors causing environmental pollution and negative changes affecting the marine ecosystem. This is the premise for many new scientific ideas and research directions to be discovered, contributing to the sustainable marine environment protection in the future.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hien presented on “Evaluating the ability of medium-sized invertebrates (Meiofauna) to respond to changes in the environment”
Prof. Alexei Sentchev presents on “Characteristics of the transport and dispersion of particulate matter by surface flow in the Gulf of Tonkin”
Dr. Sylvain Ouillon presents on maximum turbidity in the estuary (eg at the estuary of Cam - Nam Trieu and Van Uc rivers)
At the end of the seminar, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Sylvain Ouillon, Dean of WEO, thanked scientists, staff, lecturers and students for their enthusiastic participation and contributions. He also expressed his hope to receive more support and attention from the scientific community, especially "young scientists", in the upcoming programs of the faculty in particular and USTH in general.
