Working session between Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Argentina National Space Committee

In Buenos Aires, April 25, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh, Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), led a delegation of officials from VAST and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam to the headquarters of the Argentine Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation to hold talks with the Minister and other relevant ministries. The focus of the meeting was to promote cooperation directions on space technology and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between VAST and the Argentine National Space Commission (CONAE).

This signing marks an important milestone on the occasion of Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Vuong Dinh Hue and a delegation of senior officials visiting Argentina on the 50^th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. VAST assigned Vietnam Space Center (VNSC) to be the focal point for exchange and cooperation with CONAE. This visit is also an opportunity for VNSC - VAST and CONAE to enhance mutual understanding, enhance the value of cooperation to share and resonate resources in both technical infrastructure and research potential. The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement with CONAE also extends VAST's international cooperation efforts, as previously done with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF).

Minister Daniel expressed his desire to promote the direction of science and technology cooperation through VAST, especially the direction of space science and technology. The Minister shared that Argentina is focusing on investing in the space industry and now there are many private companies invested and supported, wishing through international cooperation to further develop this high-tech industry. Argentina will launch the SABIA-Mar satellite by the end of next year with one of its missions being wildfire protection. In the next 5 years, the plan is to launch Argentina's own satellite.

Vice President Tran Tuan Anh thanked the Minister and officials of Argentine ministries for welcoming him, then introduced the potentials and other strengths of VAST besides the development of space technology, and expressed his hope that cooperation activities will soon be exchanged by the two sides to agree on implementation.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to assign a focal point between VNSC and CONAE to promote the next works.
