Welcoming Vietnam Research & Applied Medicine – Bio Technology and MGI Company – BGI Group – China
On the side of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Tien Dung, Director of Application and Deployment of Technology Department; Dr. Le Quynh Lien, Deputy Head of International Cooperation Department; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huy Hoang, Director of the Institute of Genome Research; Dr. Nguyen Trung Nam, Deputy Director of the Institute of Biotechnology; and on the side of the delegation, there were Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Huan, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Medical & Biological Research and Application; Dr. Yin Ye, General Director of MGI and CEO of BGI Group, who led the delegation during the trip to Southeast Asia.
At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Tien Dung, Director of Application and Deployment of Technology Department, highly appreciated the achievements and application potential of BGI's Spatio-temporal omics technology that BGI has achieved, especially in research development and technology application, sequencing technology, focusing on the understanding of rare diseases, cancer, non-communicable diseases, infectious diseases, pharmacokinetics, tumor research and cell therapy.
On the side of MGI company, Dr. Yin Ye, General Director of MGI and CEO of BGI Group, expressed her wish to cooperate with the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology in new research fields of mutual interest, as well as open prospects for cooperation in the medium and long term in training, exchange of science and expertise in order to speed up research and application of technology in practice, creating a premise for technology transfer and commercialization of research results. Through the visit and work at VASS, on behalf of MGI Group, Dr. Yin Ye officially invited the Academy's Board of Directors to visit and work at MGI's Headquarters in Beijing.
Welcoming and appreciating the achievements of MGI, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huy Hoang added that the Institute of Genomic Research has had a number of collaborative papers with researchers from MGI. This will be a favorable premise for the next projects to be implemented when the two sides come to a cooperation agreement.
