VNREDSat-1 orbit second adjusted to avoid collision
On August 27th 2014, the Joint Space Operations Center (JSPOC) of the U.S continued warning of the 0.13% probability of a collision between VNREDSat-1 and an object in space, at 3:13pm on August 29th 2014 (Vietnam time). With previous, recent experience in solving this situation, the Center for Small Satellite Control and Exploitation immediately reviewed the analysis, and made the necessary adjustments to the orbit of the satellite from the ground control station at Hoa Lac.
At 01: 15 am on August 29th 2014, VNREDSat-1 performed orbit adjustments. Until 9:30 pm on the same day, the ground control station at Hoa Lac received normal status signal of VNREDSat-1. At once, the satellite image receiver station of the National Remote Sensing Administration under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment also received VNREDSat-1 image signals as plan. This affirmed the normal activity of VNREDSat-1 after orbit adjustments to avoid collision.
This is the second such successful adjustment to the orbit in the last two weeks.
