Vietnam Museum of Nature – CITES Science Agency of Vietnam attended the 50-year conference on the Tiger Project in India
According to Decision 4519/QD-BNN-TCLN dated November 22, 2022 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on the additional designation of the CITES scientific agency of Vietnam, of which the Vietnam Museum of Nature is 01 in 04 Vietnam CITES scientific agencies under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (4 CITES Vietnam agencies include: Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources, Vietnam Museum of Nature, Institute of Oceanography and Southern Institute of Ecology).
The conference had the participation of leaders, protected area managers, scientists, wildlife experts, scholars, policy makers and students. Delegations came from countries such as: India, Armenia, Bangladesh, Butan, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, Suriname, Tanzania, Thailand and Vietnam. Attending the conference were Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Minister of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change.
At the Conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Minh, Head of the Vietnamese delegation, gave a speech on tiger conservation in Vietnam and the current status of tiger population in Vietnam. The conference aims to contribute to the implementation of CITES and Vietnam's responsibility for tiger conservation.
The conference is also an opportunity for the Vietnam Museum of Nature to expand cooperation in scientific research, training and experience in management and expertise in rescue and conservation of natural resources.
