Speaking at the meeting, Vice President Chu Hoang Ha highly appreciated the cooperation potential between the two sides and proposed several areas of cooperation with MGRI such as applying artificial intelligence to mineral resource management; jointly developing human resource training programmes; strengthening academic exchanges; and implementing joint research tasks.

Introducing some of MGRI’s recent research achievements, Professor Yury Panov added that MGRI is a leading university in the Russian Federation in the fields of geological exploration and subsurface use. Many generations of Vietnamese students have studied at the university and later became leading experts and managers in Vietnam. At present, MGRI maintains cooperative relations with many Vietnamese partners such as VAST, Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, the Viet Nam Department of Geology and Minerals, and the Institute of Geological Sciences and Mineral Resources.

Concluding the meeting, the two sides agreed to promote the development of a memorandum of understanding to strengthen scientific research and training activities in the coming period.
