Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology works with RMIT University delegation

RMIT University delegation led by Prof. Peter Coloe, Vice President of RMIT and President of RMIT Vietnam, had a working visit at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) on March 29, 2022.

Receiving the delegation was Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha, Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; Dr. Le Quynh Lien, Head of International Cooperation Department; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phi Quyet Tien, Deputy Director of the Institute of Biotechnology.

At the reception

At the reception, Prof. Peter Coloe introduced about RMIT University and its training areas as well as its strengths and orientation to expand science and technology training in Vietnam in the coming time. He also expressed his desire to strengthen and promote the cooperation between RMIT University and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology in the field of education and training. In particular, he emphasized that on the basis of the successful implementation of the cooperation agreement signed between RMIT and the Institute of Biotechnology in 2014, RMIT wishes to continue to cooperate in exchange of PhD students in the fields of biotechnology, information technology and materials science.

Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology Chu Hoang Ha said that the Institute of Biotechnology under Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and RMIT University signed an agreement to cooperate in training graduate students in 2014. The PhDs in the joint training program are currently dynamic and creative young scientists who are showing their ability well during their work at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. With the current capacity of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, as well as research units in the fields of natural and applied sciences in three regions, a system of national key laboratories and of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, a team of experienced scientists with international working experience, the VAST Vice President said that the opportunity to promote cooperation in training and scientific research between VASS and RMIT is very large.

The two sides exchanged and discussed building, developing and renewing cooperation opportunities, with the desire to jointly train a team of young Vietnamese scientists with expertise and scientific research capacity in the field of science and technology in the international environment.
