In Minsk, Belarusian National Academy of Sciences (NASB) presented the latest achievements in basic research and application of NASB to VAST, including many high-tech scientific fields such as earth observation satellite technology, new-generation vaccine production technology, new material technology, pharmaceutical chemical technology. These are also the research directions that Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh, President of VAST, and Prof. Acad. Gusakov, Chairman of the NASB Presidium, discussed, proceeded to propose research units affiliated to the two academies to exchange and propose in the VAST-NASB Cooperation Roadmap in the future. The two sides assessed that the ongoing Cooperation Roadmap for the period of 2023-2025 has obtained many positive results in terms of publication (an average of 1.5 international announcements/task, higher than the average of many projects being implemented) with a number of studies with application potential, such as anti-corrosion surface coating materials, newly isolated natural compounds, nanomaterials applied in medical, agricultural, manufacturing industries,... on training with many delegations for scientific exchanges, field surveys and connection with training institutions of the two sides to support postgraduate training. To affirm the traditional partnership, VAST and NASB have approved and signed a Cooperation Agreement for the period of 2024-2028. In addition, VAST and NASB also highly appreciate Belarusian Foundation for Basic Research (NCCB Foundation) for supporting the implementation of bilateral research projects between VAST and Belarusian partners, of which more than 80% are projects between VAST and NASB. On this occasion, VAST and the NCCB Foundation agreed on a list of projects to be implemented in the 2025-2026 period and signed a Cooperation Agreement for the 2024-2028 period. This cooperation agreement aims to strengthen the scientific and technical potential of Belarus and Vietnam in general and of VAST and NASB in particular, develop and expand relations between scientific organizations of the two countries, promote scientific and technological cooperation between VAST and NASB in areas of mutual interest, especially in high-tech fields and emerging scientific issues in which the two sides have strengths.
In order to appreciate the dedication of Vietnamese scientists in promoting cooperation between the two academies in particular and the two countries of Vietnam and Belarus in general, NASB awarded the NASB Special Medal named Academician Ignatovsky for Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh, President of VAST; NASB's Certificate of Merit for Prof. Acad. Le Truong Giang, Vice President of VAST and NASB medals for several VAST scientists. VAST also awarded the Certificate of Merit to Prof. Acad. Gusakov, Chairman of the NASB Presidium; Commemorative medal for Prof. Acad. Chizik, First Vice President of NASB, Prof. Acad. Dainenko, President of NCCB Foundation and a number of elite scientists of the NASB who have accompanied VAST for nearly 20 years.
In recent years, VAST has established relations and implemented cooperation with many Academies of Sciences around the world and aims to continue to expand international cooperation, especially in the system of National Academies of Sciences, not only with traditional partners but also with new partners, notably in areas where science and technology are developed. In 2024, VAST has visited and had many exchanges and negotiations with traditional partners such as Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Czech Academy of Sciences, Austrian Academy of Sciences, Royal Academy of Sciences, establish cooperative relations with Romanian Academy of Sciences, Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and will continue to establish cooperation with a number of other national academies of sciences in the near future; promising to open up many new opportunities for VAST, making a useful contribution to promoting the development of science and technology in Vietnam.
