Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology officially establishes cooperation with Mongolian Academy of Sciences
Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS) are both members of the International Association of Academies of Sciences (IAAS). The two academies have had independent cooperation with a number of joint partners such as Russian Academy of Sciences, Belarusian National Academy of Sciences, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and Czech Academy of Sciences. Recently, a number of units under VAST and MAS have implemented cooperation in the fields of pharmaceutical chemistry, geography, geo-ecology, museum and conservation activities. On this basis, the VAST and MAS Cooperation Agreement aims to establish a formal partnership between the two leading research units of each country, creating a legal basis for joint research and training activities in the fields of science and technology of each side as well as areas of mutual interest.
Immediately after the Agreement was signed, VAST and MAS held bilateral talks at the MAS headquarters to exchange and discuss specific cooperation activities. The Presidents of the two academies agreed to continue to support existing collaborations between affiliated units in the field of chemistry of natural compounds, research and conservation of biodiversity; In addition, it will promote cooperation in scientific fields that are currently of interest such as data science, information technology and artificial intelligence. In particular, the coordination of training and exchange of lecturers and students will be promoted in the future, when MAS successfully establishes the Mongolian University of Sciences (UMS) under MAS, with an organizational and operational structure with many similarities with the Graduate University of Science and Technology, a training unit affiliated with VAST's research unit. The VAST model has had the opportunity to be shared at activities within the framework of IAAS. In addition, MAS also shared some results of cooperation between the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology - MAS and the Institute of Natural Products Chemistry - VAST, the main research directions in the field of biology and chemistry; at the same time, he introduced MAS's animal and insect collection to the VAST Chairman, as well as the scientific research facility project that will be put into operation in early 2025 invested by the Government for MAS.
With the honor of officially establishing cooperation in the presence of the leaders of the two states of Vietnam and Mongolia, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology believes that the two academies will coordinate to effectively implement the cooperation contents, contributing to promoting friendly relations between the two countries; at the same time, it shows the positive responsibility of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology in promoting connections between member organizations of the Association of World Academies of Sciences as mentioned at recent sessions of the Association.
