Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology deepens cooperation with Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP)
Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha meets with the APCTP delegation
At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha stressed that Vietnam has been one of APCTP’s founding members since 1996 and has consistently maintained an active role within the organisation. He affirmed that theoretical physics is an important research field of VAST and expressed confidence that the discipline will continue making valuable academic contributions while positively supporting high-level human resource training, quantum technology research and development, and nuclear energy technology development in Vietnam in the coming years.
Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha noted that APCTP’s support has delivered tangible results for Vietnam’s scientific community. Specifically, APCTP has provided funding for more than 25 Vietnamese scientists, doctoral researchers and students to participate in training courses and international workshops across the region, including in the Republic of Korea, Thailand and the Philippines. The centre has also coordinated the successful organisation of several major scientific events in Vietnam, including the 48th, 49th and 50th National Conferences on Theoretical Physics.
In particular, the cooperation has made important contributions to VAST’s Nature Index performance, with 34 high-quality international scientific publications, helping strengthen the academy’s standing in global physics research rankings.
For APCTP side, Prof. Dr. Jae-Hyung Jeon highly appreciated VAST’s contributions to APCTP over the past 30 years. He also introduced APCTP’s upcoming strategic directions, including bilateral research programmes, the Regional AI Network initiative, and programmes for young scientists.

Concluding the meeting, Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha proposed that APCTP continue supporting the International Centre for Physics, a UNESCO Category II Centre in Vietnam, to participate more deeply in regional programmes, thereby enhancing research and training capacity for the younger generation of scientists.
Within the framework of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Jae-Hyung Jeon presented the VAST–APCTP cooperation agreement to VAST Vice President Chu Hoang Ha, reaffirming the strong and enduring friendship between the two organisations.
