Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh, President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology would like to thank the Ambassador for his attention and support for VAST's cooperation activities from the beginning of his tenure until now. These are valuable supports for VAST and French partners to remain connected smoothly during the pandemic and return to stronger cooperation later. The growth of University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (Vietnam-France University, USTH) or the persistent operation of VNRedSat-1 satellite demonstrates the close cooperation between VAST and French Universities, the French Research Institute for Development, the French National Research Center, the French National Space Center, Airbus, is a symbol of the cooperation between Vietnam and France, in which the French Embassy in Vietnam and Ambassador Nicolas Warnery play an important role. Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh congratulated the Ambassador on an exciting and successful tenure in Vietnam, and believed that the cooperation activities between VAST and French partners in particular and between Vietnam and France in general will always receive the support of the Ambassador.

Expressing his honor to receive the Medal, Ambassador Nicolas Warnery sincerely thanked President Chau Van Minh and the Leader Board of VAST, Vietnam-France University and many VAST units have been implementing many cooperation activities with French partners. He shared that during his tenure in Vietnam, especially when working with VAST, he realized the special role of VAST, as a research agency and as the governing body of universities, laboratories, museums. Moreover, the President of VAST is also a member of the Central Committee of the Party. In so many positions, the President is a very important and valuable partner for the French side. In recent years, the French and Vietnamese sides have had extensive cooperation in many fields of research and training, especially in the field of aerospace. Ambassador Nicolas Warnery appreciated the spirit of cooperation because VAST is always ready toand listen to the exchange of the French side to find solutions for comprehensive cooperation between the two sides. The Ambassador was proud to mention the symbol of cooperation between Vietnam and France, at VNRedSat-1 and USTH projects. The Ambassador affirmed to continue to monitor and support the cooperation between VAST and French partners. On the occasion of receiving this medal, Ambassador Nicolas Warnery also thanked the French Embassy and his colleagues for working and supporting him during his tenure.

On behalf of USTH, students and parents, Prof. Jean- Marc Lavest, Rector and Vice Rector Dinh Thi Mai Thanh thanked the Ambassador for the support for the development of USTH. With the support of Ambassador and President Chau Van Minh, USTH has a lot of achievements, it is expected that in the next 10 years, USTH will have 5,000 students and 200 researchers, providing the two countries with a common and promising scientific platform in the region - demonstrating the greater recognition of values, commitment and quality of USTH. He emphasized that France has a very special position, because science, people and time have acted as a catalyst to build and cement the link and friendship between Vietnam and France, in which USTH is a long-term connection point of Vietnam and France that the Ambassador plays a key connection role.

About Ambassador Nicolas Warnery After studying at the Paris Institute of Political Studies, Université Paris-Panthéon-Sorbonne, then the National School of Public Administration (course « Freedom, Equality, Charity », 1989), Mr. Nicolas Warnery began working in the agencies under the Prime Minister and since 1993 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Department of Strategic Affairs, security and disarmament. In 1995, he was appointed Second Counsellor of the French Embassy in Zagreb, before serving – since 1999 – as Head of the Security and Protection Department at the Department of French Abroad and Foreigners in France. In 2002, he became Chief of Staff to Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin. From 2004 to 2007, Mr. Nicolas Warnery served as Consul General of France in Ho Chi Minh City, before being appointed Head of Information Systems at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2011, Mr. Nicolas Warnery was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Togo. He then served as Diplomatic Inspector in Paris from 2014 to 2016, and French Director General abroad and consular administrator from 2016 to 2019. According to the decision dated July 26, 2019, Mr. Nicolas Warnery has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Since September 5, 2019, he has held positions in Hanoi. Nicolas Warnery has been awarded the National Medal of Merit and the Order of the Legion of Merit since 2016.
