Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology attended the International Scientific Conference "Science, technology and innovation in the period of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State"

At the invitation of Turkmenistan Academy of Sciences, from June 12-13, 2023, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology attended the International Scientific Conference "Science, technology and innovation in the period of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State" online. The conference, organized by Turkmenistan Academy of Sciences on the occasion of National Science Day, brought together hundreds of scientists from countries in the region and around the world.

In the opening remarks, President of the Republic of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow emphasized the role of science, technology and innovation in the growth of the nation, and asked Turkmenistan and international scientists to cooperate and develop science and technology in the world.

Attending and speaking in the Opening Session, Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh, President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), shared with participants about the functions, tasks, organizational structure as well as key research directions at VAST as a scientific and technological research unit under the Government of Vietnam. On the basis of the friendly diplomatic relations of more than 30 years between Vietnam and Turkmenistan, as well as the cooperation between Vietnamese experts trained in Turkmenistan in the past, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Turkmenistan Academy of Sciences can cooperate on training,  in exchange of students through affiliated Universities of the two parties; research cooperation prioritizes 4 key areas (Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Technology, Materials Science and Information Technology) in the development strategy of the two sides; and multilateral cooperation through the Association of World Academies of Sciences (IAAS) of which both sides are members. The President of VAST hoped that through this workshop, scientific organizations would receive strong support from the Government, State as well as other international organizations to jointly carry out research and development of technology and innovation, for the growth of each country, contributing to the cohesion of nations.

The opening session was also attended and addressed by leaders of Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences, Tajik Academy of Sciences, Russian Academy of Sciences, Belarusian Academy of Sciences, Uzbek Academy of Sciences and a number of national scientific and technological organizations of Japan and Korea. Scientific reports are divided into 6 sub-committees (Section) with a total of more than 500 reports including Section I: Nanotechnology, chemical technologies. The study of new materials and power engineering – 82 reports; Section II: Biotechnology, molecular biology, agriculture, ecology and genetics – 77 reports; Section III: Information and communication systems, computer technologies, natural sciences – 45 reports; Section IV: Contemporary medicine and technologies for the production of remedy – 93 reports; Section V: Innovative economy – 76 reports; Section VI: Humanities – 136 reports. The reports introduced the latest research results in Turkmenistan and other countries in the region, raised some common issues that need to be addressed and opened up for potential cooperation between Academies, scientific research and technological development organizations around the world.
