The meeting opened up opportunities for cooperation in applying synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite technology to serve resource management and climate change response.

Overview of the working session

Attending the working session, the Finnish side included Ms. Riikka Seppala – Deputy Ambassador of Finland to Vietnam, representatives of ICEYE – a world-leading enterprise in SAR satellite technology, together with representatives of G-LINK New Generation Telecommunications Joint Stock Company, ICEYE’s partner in Vietnam. On VAST side, there were Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha – Vice President of VAST, together with leaders of the Department of Training and International Cooperation, the Vietnam National Space Center, and the Institute of Geological Sciences.

Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha expressed hope that, with the support of the Embassy of Finland, the results of cooperation with ICEYE would become a model projec

Speaking at the working session, Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha said that VAST is the leading research agency of Vietnam, currently focusing on developing high-tech fields and training human resources in science and technology. He highly appreciated the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Finland, especially in science, technology and innovation. The Vice President of VAST expressed his expectation to expand cooperation with ICEYE in the fields of Earth observation and SAR satellite technology, while proposing support for building specialized training programs, expert exchanges and graduate students, in order to help Vietnam master satellite data processing technology and AI applications.

Deputy Ambassador Riikka Seppala emphasized that she would serve as a strong bridge, supporting leading technology enterprises such as ICEYE in bringing the most advanced solutions to Vietnam

Deputy Ambassador Riikka Seppala affirmed that the Embassy of Finland will continue to promote scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of space technology and digital transformation. She emphasized that the Embassy will play a bridging role so that Finnish technology enterprises, including ICEYE, can bring advanced solutions to Vietnam.
