09/05/2024
On April 8th, Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh, President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and Prof. Julian Revalski, President of Bulgaria Academy of Science (BAS) chaired the seminar themed: “VAST – BAS: 10 years of cooperation”.

Overview of the seminar

Opening the seminar, Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh expressed his pleasure to welcome President Revalski and the BAS delegation to visit and work at VAST. Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh respectfully thanked Bulgaria for support as well as BAS in helping VAST train leading experts in the field of chemistry and biology. On this basis, in 2013, VAST and BAS officially signed a cooperation agreement in the presence of senior leaders of the two countries, and in 2014 began to agree to co-finance four joint research projects. From 2014-2022, each 2-year period, VAST and BAS recruited and funded three missions, and from 2022 increased to 05 missions. Over the past 10 years, VAST and BAS scientists have successfully completed 10 tasks in the fields of biodiversity and bioactive substances, information technology, space technology, materials science, and announced 25 joint works, contributing to the training of high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate human resources. Currently, the two sides are implementing four tasks in the period of 2023-2025 and obtaining some initial results, promising quality research works in the coming time. GS. Julian Revalski thanked him for the invitation to visit VAST, and expressed his pleasure to meet some of the Vietnamese alumni who have studied in Bulgaria. Prof. Julian Revalski highly appreciated the results of cooperation between the two sides in all fields. Over the past time, the cooperation relationship between the two Academies in particular and between Vietnam and Bulgaria in general has been constantly tightened and developed comprehensively. On the basis of 10 years of good cooperation as well as friendship between the two countries, Prof. Julian Revalski hopes that VAST and BAS will continue their long-term cooperation in the near future.
