VHI-18B Medical Solid Waste Incinerator
Based on the selection and study of modern scientific and technological advances in the world, the Institute of Science and Technology for Energy and Environmental has successfully researched, manufactured and put the VHI-18B Hazardous Solid Waste Incinerator into use in many fields, focusing on the medical field.
Technology Description
The VHI-18B medical solid waste treatment system is designed based on the multi-zone combustion principle currently used in advanced countries around the world. This system is designed with two combustion chambers; primary and secondary, a Cyclone complex that treats exhaust gas using the wet absorption method.
Technological diagram of medical solid waste treatment system VHI-18B
Medical solid waste is fed into the primary combustion chamber to burn and maintain at a temperature of 500°C-800°C. Air is continuously supplied for the incineration process. Smoke from the primary combustion chamber (incomplete combustion products, containing a lot of dust and toxic substances) is mixed with air according to the spiral principle and fed into the secondary combustion chamber.
In the secondary combustion chamber, incomplete combustion products (containing both dioxin and furan) continue to decompose and burn at high temperatures (900°C – 1200°C) with a sufficiently long residence time (2 seconds). Smoke from the secondary combustion chamber is led through a heat reduction system and treated by an alkaline solution absorption method, ensuring that the exhaust gas meets the QCVN 02:2012/BTNMT standards on medical solid waste incinerators.
Advantages of VHI-18B Solid Waste Incinerator
The characteristic advantage of the VHI-18B solid waste incinerator is multi-zone combustion, meeting the requirements of high temperature, strong agitation, long combustion retention time, so the efficiency of waste combustion, dioxin and furan destruction is high. The furnace wall is built with Samoat A bricks, insulated with high-temperature resistant mineral wool and the furnace shell is made of SUS 304 stainless steel, so when the furnace is burning at high temperature, the outside of the furnace shell is still cool. Always maintain negative pressure in the furnace, so when the furnace is operating, the door can still be opened to load a new batch of waste.
The furnace's exhaust gas treatment system combines with heat exchange to completely eliminate dust, heavy metals and toxic gases (NO, SO, HCI, HF ...), quickly cools the exhaust gas to below 200 degrees Celsius to avoid dioxin regeneration, and simultaneously heats the air supplied to the furnace, to minimize fuel consumption. The smoke emitted after treatment is colorless, odorless, does not pollute the environment, and meets the national technical regulation QCVN 02:2012/BTNMT on exhaust gas from medical solid waste incinerators (inspected by competent authorities). The remaining amount of inert ash is very small, and is buried or disposed of as normal solid waste.
The system has automatic control of the burning cycle, temperature and accompanying equipment, so the operation is relatively simple and safe. There are many types of incinerators with capacities suitable for the amount of waste of each hospital facility.
With efficient working mode, it saves fuel, so the processing cost is low. Compared with imported equipment, VHI-18B incinerator has lower equipment cost (only one third or 50% of the import price). The product is warranted for free for 12 months after delivery, long-term maintenance upon request.
The VHI-18B incinerator has been assessed by the Inter-Ministry Council (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Health) to meet the standards of QCVN 02:2012/BTNMT on medical solid waste incinerators and has been granted 2 exclusive patents No. 4271 dated April 27, 2004 and 21503 dated July 9, 2019 by the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam - Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology and a certificate of trademark registration No. 57634 in 2004
Application deployment
The VHI-18B hazardous solid waste incinerator is widely used in many fields, suitable for the treatment of medical solid waste; Solid waste from veterinary research and treatment centers; Toxic solid waste from factories, enterprises and industrial parks (paint waste, printing ink, rubber, leather shoes, etc.). Currently, the VHI-18B incinerator has been transferred and installed for more than 50 facilities and hospitals at all levels in and outside the country such as hospitals in the provinces: Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Phu Tho, Son La, Hoa Binh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Kon Tum, Ninh Thuan, Dong Thap, industrial solid waste incinerator of the National Money Printing Factory, poultry incinerator of Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Joint Stock Company, medical solid waste incinerator of Luang Prabang Friendship Hospital and Vientiane dumping site in Laos.
The Institute of Science and Technology for Energy and Environmental has completely mastered the technology of Medical Solid Waste Incinerator, with high localization and lower cost than imported products. Manufacturing and installation time is only within 1 month after receiving an order.
With remarkable achievements, the VHI-18B solid waste incinerator product of the Institute of Science and Technology for Energy and Environmental - Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology was awarded the Golden Cup at the Vietnam Environmental Exhibition in 2006. In 2019, the VHI-18B solid waste incinerator project was awarded the Tran Dai Nghia Award, an award of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology to encourage and honor scientists with outstanding achievements in natural sciences and technology.
