Veterans Association of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology organizes March to the Origin 2024

On the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien liberation, with the consent of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Leadership of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), from May 15-18, 2024, VAST Veterans Association organized a march to its source, revisiting the old battlefield in Dien Bien province.

Comrade Pham Tuan Huy, Permanent Deputy Secretary of VAST Party Committee attended and directed the march. The event also drew the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Huy Tien, former Vice President of VAST; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Dinh Tri, former Deputy Secretary of VAST Party Committee; comrade Nguyen Thi Hue, President of VAST Trade Union and members of VAST Veterans Association in the northern region.

On the journey to revisit the old battlefield (Dien Bien province), where 70 years ago, our army and people under the leadership of the Party, led by President Ho Chi Minh, fought the decisive strategic battle of Dien Bien Phu, creating an "earth-shaking" victory, successfully ending the resistance war against the French colonial invaders, marking a great turning point in the history of our nation's struggle to build and defend the country, the delegation offered incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs at Dien Bien Phu battlefield martyrs temple, Dien Bien Phu martyrs cemetery, Dien Bien Phu Victory Monument; visit the Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum, Dien Bien Phu Campaign Headquarters, Do Cat Tunnel, A1 Hill Historical Site; visited and gave gifts to soldiers of Dien Bien in the past - comrade Nguyen Hong Thai; exchanges with Dien Bien Province Military Command; donated the Yearbook of VAST Veterans Association to the Dien Bien Phu History Museum.

The journey "Revisiting the old battlefields" is an opportunity for veterans to review unforgettable memories of the glorious victories of our people, especially the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their youth to the cause of building and protecting the fatherland. This is not only an honor for the Veterans but also a shining example for the young generation today and tomorrow to follow, contributing to expressing the traditional ethics of paying gratitude and remembering the origin of the Vietnamese people.
