VAST's international cooperation activities in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Russia and Belarus
On the morning of May 6, 2025, a delegation from Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) led by Professor Tran Tuan Anh visited the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAS RK) and worked with Academician Maxim Zdorovets and other scientists. At the meeting, Academician Zdorovets introduced the DC-60 accelerator complex supported by the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR). This complex plays an important role not only in ion beam research and materials science but also contributes to promoting the development of nuclear power in Kazakhstan. The meeting was an opportunity to learn about Kazakhstan's cooperation experience with JINR in designing, constructing and operating accelerators as well as related laboratories. Based on the cooperation agreement, VAST and JINR have initially developed a plan to implement research and design of a similar accelerator complex in Vietnam.

Then, on the morning of May 8, Prof. Tran Tuan Anh visited and worked with Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. At the meeting, the two sides discussed directions for promoting scientific and technological cooperation between the two academies. Academician Isa Habibbayli, President of Azerbaijan Academy, expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, seismology, etc. The academician also emphasized the history of friendly cooperation between the two countries, including many Vietnamese students who studied oil and gas in Azerbaijan and have now become key officials. Prof. Tran Tuan Anh expressed his gratitude for the thoughtful reception from the Azerbaijan side and sent his congratulations on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of Azerbaijan Academy.

In the Russian Federation - an important highlight of the working trip, on May 10, Professor Tran Tuan Anh participated in a high-level delegation for talks with Russian President Putin. On May 11, within the framework of the Business Forum held in parallel with the high-level program, Professor Tran Tuan Anh and Ms. Victoria Panova, Vice Rector of the National Research University HSE (Russian Federation), signed and exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on research and training cooperation in the field of science and technology between VAST and HSE. The signing ceremony took place under the witness of General Secretary To Lam and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko.

On the morning of May 12, VAST delegation led by Prof. Tran Tuan Anh visited the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences. The delegation was received by Academician Sergey Antonovich Chizhik, First Vice President of the Belarusian Academy. The delegation was introduced to the exhibition area of outstanding scientific and technological products of the Institute and discussed many potential cooperation opportunities with VAST in areas such as materials, space technology, ecology, biotechnology and polar research, etc.
