VAST President receives French Ambassador to Vietnam

On March 14, 2017, Professor and Academic Chau Van Minh, President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), received Mr. Bertrand Lortholary, Ambassador of the Republic of France to Vietnam, and Mr. Bernard Legube, President of the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) Consortium.

Attendants at the reception included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ninh Khac Ban, Head of International Cooperation Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Dinh Tri, Head of the Organization – Personnel Department; Prof. Patrick Poiron, USTH Rector; and Mr. Jean-Luc Clement, Research Consultant of the Department of International Affairs under the Ministry of Education and Training, who is a university lecturer and a researcher about France.


During the reception, Mr. Bertrand Lortholary confirmed that USTH is an important project, a symbol of the good cooperation between Vietnam and France, adding that the USTH Consortium will give greatest support for USTH, especially in the training of cadres, researchers and lecturers.


According to VAST President Chau Van Minh, despite diverse difficulties, the academy will make favourable conditions in terms of facilities, laboratories and policies in support of USTH. He also expressed his hope that the French Ambassador and USTH Consortium President would care about and promote the development of USTH.


The two sides discussed the situation of USTH and its long-term development plan, especially after the inter-governmental agreement ending in 2019.
