VAST President pays working visit to National Center of Space Studies of France

After hearing Mr. Jean-Yves Le Gall, CNES President’s introduction on the organizational structure and the activities of CNES as well as potentials of cooperation with Vietnam, Professor and Academic Chau Van Minh also gave an introduction on VAST and its research units involved in space technology, especially the achievements of the research program of unmanned aircraft and the effective operation of VNREDSat 1 in orbit. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the potential of cooperation in space technology between VAST and CNES and reached a consensus on the contents to be put into the minutes of cooperation on  aerospace between VAST and CNES. At the invitation of Professor and Academic Chau Van Minh, CNES President will pay a working visit to VAST from 23-28 July 2015 to carry out further discussions on specific cooperative activities.

On 15 June 2015, VAST delegation joined the event “Paris Air Show Le Bourget”, witnessing a wide range of advanced technologies in aerospace from countries taking part in the exhibition.

During the working visit to CNES, Professor and Academic Chau Van Minh, together with Vietnamese Ambassador to France Nguyen Ngoc Son and VAST delegation members came to work with representatives of the French Ministry of Finance. After exchanging technical requirements for VNREDSat 2 as well as financial mechanism for loans for VNREDSat 2, the two sides came to a consensus on proposing the French Ministry of Finance promptly work with the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance to put forth a plan for preferential loans for Vietnam’s VNREDSat 2 project.

Professor and Academic Chau Van Minh, VAST President also visited and worked with the French Airbus aviation group and Thales Alenia Space Group to discuss the technical requirements of VNREDSat 2 as well as the solutions to obtain best plan for capital for VNREDSat 2. On the basis of successful cooperation in VNREDSat 1 project between VAST and Airbus aviation group, Mr. Francois Auque, the President of Airbus Defence and Space emphasized that with its experience and potential, the Airbus group would do its utmost to meet at the highest level the technical requirements as well as effective financial solutions for most preferential loans for VAST’s VNREDSat 2 project.

During the working visit in France, Professor and Academic, Chau Van Minh, together with VAST delegation members visited the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Paris and informed the embassy staff of the results during the visit. On the morning of 18 June 2015, VAST delegation came to the airport to return home, concluding the visit to the Republic of France.
