VAST presents insignia to Prof. Yasuaki Maeda
Attending the ceremony was Professor and Academic Chau Van Minh, Party Central Committee member, Secretary of the VAST Party Committee and VAST President; Assoc. Prof. Ninh Khac Ban, Head of the International Cooperation Department; Dang Viet Tien, Vice Head of the Organization and Personnel Department; together with representatives and staff of the Centre for Training, Consultancy and Technology Transfer.
Prof. Yasuaki Maeda is a research professor from the University of Osaka Prefecture (OPU). He is a senior expert of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam. From 1994 to 2005, he was Director of the Japan Society for Atmospheric Environment. From 1997 to 1999, he was President of the Association for Environmental Analysis. Since 2001, he has been President of the European Association for Chemistry and Ultrasound Wave.
During his research career, he has made active contribution to the development of science and technology in Vietnam. He is the author and co-author of over 300 scientific research works published in international scientific magazines, including 54 cooperation research projects with Vietnamese universities and scientific research institutes. With his knowledge and experience, he has participated in training young Vietnamese scientists, supporting and giving scientific research consultancy to units under VAST, including the Institute of Chemistry, the Institute of Environmental Technology, and the Centre for Training, Consultancy and Technology Transfer.

During the ceremony, Professor and Academic Chau Van Minh, on behalf of VAST leaders, presented the VAST insignia to Prof. Yasuaki Maeda, recognizing his contribution to Vietnam’s education and training as well as the development of scientific and technological research at VAST.

Addressing the ceremony, VAST President Chau Van Minh appreciated the active contribution by Prof. Yasuaki Maeda at VAST over the past time, expressing his deep thanks to the professor. The VAST President also expressed his hope that in the future, the professor would continue to support cooperation relations between Vietnam and Japan, especially making contribution to training young Vietnamese scientists and support VAST scientific and technological research.
