VAST delegation visit Bulgaria Academy of Sciences and Chungnam National University

On the occasion of the visit to Vietnam by the President of BAS in October 2013, to sign the official cooperation agreement between the two academies, accomplished academic Stefan Vodenicharov witnessed the signing ceremony by President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Truong Tan Sang, and the President of the Bulgarian Republic, Rosen Plevneliev. To concretize the signed contents, at the invitation of the President of BAS, the VAST delegation led by Prof. Chau Van Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, President of VAST, accompanied by representatives from the Department of International Cooperation and directors of several institutes, paid a working visit to BAS from June 25^th to 28^th 2014.

At the working session, the two sides introduced their respective organizations, reviewed research and training results and defined the prioritized fields and projects for the 2015-2016 period. The protocol signing ceremony on scientific cooperation between the two academies was solemnly held under the witness of the Vietnam Embassy in Bulgaria, scientists from VAST and BAS. Also in the framework of the visit, the VAST delegation met the chairman of the Bulgarian National Assembly, Mihail Mikov to provide a summary of the working session between the two and, visited the Institute of Ecology and Biodiversity Study and the Institute of Information Technology and Communications under BAS.

Earlier, the VAST delegation led by Mr. Minh paid a working visit to Chungnam National University (CNU), Republic of Korea, from June 22^nd to 24^th, 2014. During that meeting, the two sides recognized each other’s achievements in training young scientific staff for VAST and the outstanding results of common research projects. Over the past five years in particular, scientists from the two sides have made public more than 100 articles through international journals. The VAST delegation also visited College of Pharmacy under CNU and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on scientific research and training cooperation.
