VAST awarded "Lead Innovation 2020" by Clarivate in group of Government research organizations in South Asia and Southeast Asia

Clarivate was founded in 2016 through the acquisition of Thompson Reuters database and scientific services. Clarivate's goal is to contribute to accelerating innovation speed by providing databases and reliable analytics to customers around the world, providing a basis for discovery, protection, and commercialization of new ideas faster.

Currently Clarivate is a global leader in providing insights and reliable analytics on credible quality of scientific research and innovation, including the ISI portfolio of articles. To achieve this, Clarivate has invested and stored a large amount of data about magazines, articles, inventions, and intellectual property around the world. Focused Clarivate areas include science research and academics; Intellectual property (inventions and useful solutions); Pharmaceutical and biotechnology; Trademarks, domain names and brand protection. Clarivate's expert database includes more than 8,500 experts and individuals in more than 40 countries around the world.

On November 20, 2020 in London, UK, Clarivate Company announced a list of 235 organizations including universities, government research institutions and technology groups leading innovation in 2020 in South Asia and Southeast Asia; In the top 28 selected for the award, there is the Vietnam VAST at the government's Scientific research institutions and 4 other organizations from India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. Selection criteria are based on results of patent volume, number of citations, patent success and degree of globalization, using patent data from Clarivate's owned database are the Derwent World Patents Index ™ (DWPI) and the Derwent Patent Citations Index ™ (DPCI) for the 2014-2018 period. Clarivate's assessment and selection results in 2020 are the affirmation of the quality of research and innovation of countries in South Asia and Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. This recognition is also the driving force for the selected countries and organizations to continue promoting research results and innovation in national and international socio-economic development.

Due to the influence of COVID-19, Clarivate and VAST jointly held an online award ceremony on December 21, 2020. The event drew the participation of leaders from functional departments, the Institute for Scientific Information, the Center for Informatics and Computing and several units that have outstanding results in research and application of technologies such as the Institute of Materials Science; Institute of Marine Biochemistry, and Institute of Biotechnology.

Attending the award ceremony, on the side of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, there were leaders of: functional departments, Information and Documentation Center, Computational Informatics Center and some outstanding units in research and application of technologies such as Institute of Materials Science; Institute of Marine Biochemistry, Institute of Biotechnology, ...

On behalf of VAST, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Quy Quynh, Head of Technology Application and Deployment Department, expressed his pleasure in receiving this award and emphasized that this has once again confirmed the position of VAST in the international scientific community.
