V – KIST project’s Korean experts pay working visit to VAST

On October 10th, 2016, a delegation of Korean experts of the Vietnam - Korea Institute of Science and Technology project, led by Don Jae Lee, Head of the V – KIST project’s Secretariat, paid a working visit to the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST).


Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Van Kiem, VAST Vice Director, and representatives from the International Cooperation Department, the Organization and Personnel Department, the Planning and Finance Department, the Department of Application and Implementation of Technology, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi, and the Institute of Biotechnology, received the delegation.

During the reception, VAST Vice President Phan Van Kiem introduced to guests the structure as well as scientific and technological research activities at VAST, stressing that among VAST researchers, many had been trained at leading universities in the Republic of Korea, and made active contributions to the Vietnamese science after their graduation. The establishment of V – KIST in Vietnam will be an important milestone in cooperating in training and conducting scientific and technological research between the two countries, showing the good affection and special relationship between the two peoples. V – KIST was set up with an aim to research the application of technology to serve socio-economic development; therefore, the main issue now is to seek a suitable operation mechanism to manage human resources, book scientific tasks, and use scientific research results in the most effective way.

The V – KIST expert delegation had conducted more thorough study on the position, tasks and financial mechanism as well as working organization of some agencies under VAST, especially the structure and operational mechanism and the treatment towards cadres from the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi.

Speaking during the working visit, Don Jae Lee, Head of the V – KIST project’s Secretariat, expressed his thanks to VAST leaders for making conditions for the delegation to learn experience in establishing research and training foundations in Vietnam, adding that he hoped the establishment of V-KIST in Vietnam would further promote the cooperation in scientific and technological research between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.

During the visit, the V-KIST expert delegation worked with the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi.
