USTH holds opening ceremony of 2024-2025 academic year
The Opening Ceremony was participated in by Prof. Dr. Chau Van Minh - Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the VAST; Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha - Vice President of the VAST, President of the USTH Council; Dr. Nguyen Bich Ha - Institute of Materials Science, Wife of the late Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu; Prof. Jean Marc Lavest - Rector of USTH; Prof. Dr. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh - Rector of USTH; Mr. Olivier Brochet - French Ambassador to Vietnam; Representatives of the Alliance of French universities and research organizations for the development of USTH (USTH Consortium), strategic partners, staff, tutors and all new students of the 15th course.
This year, continuing the tradition of naming new student classes after great scientists in the history of Vietnam and to inspire the pride of generations of USTH students while studying, the 15th class is honored to be named after the outstanding French scientist, Alexandre Yersin, who was deeply attached to and made many contributions to the country and people of Vietnam.
The 2023-2024 academic year has recorded many outstanding achievements of USTH in training and research, extending the sustainable development of the University, aiming to become an excellent university in the field of science and technology in Vietnam and the region. Regarding training, the number of candidates enrolling at all levels this year increased by more than 20% compared to 2023, demonstrating that the school's training quality is increasingly appreciated and trusted. After 15 years of construction and development, USTH now has 17 science and technology training majors from the original six majors.
The school will start training in Semiconductor Microchip Technology from 2024 based on the advantages of modern facilities and international cooperation networks deployed in teaching related majors including Advanced Materials Science and Nanotechnology as well as Engineering Physics - Electronics, with strong support from the VAST.
This school year also marked an important step forward when USTH was evaluated and recognized by the High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education in France (HCERES), a prestigious accreditation organization for higher education in France and Europe, to meet international standards for training facilities, putting USTH on the list of 12 Vietnamese recognized universities to meet international standards.
The ceremony was also an opportunity to honor new students with outstanding achievements in the 15th enrollment period in 2024. USTH awarded talent scholarships, study encouragement scholarships, internship scholarships and overcoming difficulties scholarships with a total value of nearly 11 billion VND to more than 400 students, trainees and postgraduates of the University.
The Opening Ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year ended with meaningful messages from the Board of Directors to the new students of the 15th course.
