US Deputy Assistant Secretary, Frank A. Rose, visits Vietnam National Satellite Center

On March 7th 2014, in the framework of a working visit to Vietnam, Frank A. Rose, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Space and Defence Policy, led a delegation to visit the Vietnam National Satellite Center (VNSC) under Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST).

Representatives of VNSC leaders, the Department of International Cooperation under VAST and America Department under the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs received the delegation.

During the reception, Mr. Rose expressed his hope that Vietnam and America would soon discuss and agree to sign the “Framework Agreement between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Socialist of Republic of Vietnam on the cooperation in the peaceful uses of  outer space” and to receive the support of Vietnam on the International Code of Conduct for Outer Space Activities.

For his part, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Anh Tuan confirmed support for the International Code of Conduct for Outer Space Activities. He also expressed his hope that America would support stronger cooperation between the two countries in Space Technology. In conclusion, Dr. Tuan registered his hope that Vietnam and America would soon have specific cooperation in space technology through implementing programs such as SERVIR Mekong, USGS, GLOBE…
