US Assistant Secretary Frank A. Rose’s visit to Vietnam National Satellite Center - Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the normalization of relations between Vietnam and the United States, Mr. Frank A. Rose, Assistant US Secretary of State in charge of Controlling, Audit and Compliance weapons issues and the delegation paid a visit to Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and the Vietnam National Satellite Center(VNSC).

In the afternoon of 07/13/2015 at VAST’s office, Prof., Acad. Chau Van Minh,  President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology has warmly welcome US Assistant Secretary Frank A. Rose. President Chau Van Minh  expressed the desire that two countries will soon have specific activities enhancing cooperation in Space Technology such as signing the “Framework Agreement between the United States and Vietnam on cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space” and the GLOBE program  (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment). Mr. Frank A. Rose thanked President Chau Van Minh for  welcoming the delegation. He agreed with President’s remarks and hope Vietnam and the United States will also promote the awareness of the importance of science and space objects that are affecting the Earth.

During the meeting with Vietnam National Satellite Center, Mr. Frank A. Rose once again addressed that he hope  the United States and Vietnam will soon sign the “Framework Agreement between the United States and Vietnam on cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space” and receive the support of Vietnam about the “International Code of Conduct for outer space activities”

From Vietnam National Satellite Center side, Dr. Pham Anh Tuan - Director of VNSC introduced the cooperation activities between the two countries and  confirmed strong support for "The International Code of Conduct for outer space activities”. He also expressed his hope that America will support stronger cooperation between the two countries in Space Technology and  National Aeronautics and Space Administration-NASA and VAST will be able to sign the bilateral agreement of GLOBE Program in Nov, 2015.
