University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) Launches Its Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy
Delivering the opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh, Principal of USTH, emphasised that the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy is not merely the birth of a new training unit, but also a strategic step towards realising USTH's mission of training high-quality human resources to meet the country's development needs, while further affirming USTH's identity on the foundation of the strategic cooperation between the Government of Viet Nam and the Government of France. The Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy is oriented towards development in line with international standards, closely linking training, research, innovation and professional practice, with the aim of producing a workforce capable of international integration and meeting the requirements of the medical and pharmaceutical sector in the new context.
According to USTH's orientation, the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy is built on three foundations: a cooperation network with French universities, research institutes, hospitals and enterprises; the system of research institutes under Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; and USTH's own training and research ecosystem. These are important advantages that give students access to an international learning environment, modern laboratory systems, strong research groups and a team of experts across many interdisciplinary fields.
USTH is committed to building a learner-centred curriculum with solid scientific foundations, clear learning outcomes, and a learning process linked to practice through its network of laboratories, hospitals, research institutes and enterprises. Students take part in research activities from an early stage and study in an international environment with most of the programme delivered in English, while also having access to dialogue mechanisms and regular feedback aimed at continuously improving training quality.
The establishment of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy not only expands USTH's training system but also helps leverage the strengths of the research ecosystem of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, strengthening the links between training, scientific research and innovation, with the goal of producing high-quality human resources to meet the development requirements of the medical and pharmaceutical sector and the cause of public health care.
