The overview of the Congress

At the congress, Mr. Nguyen Viet Gioi, President of VAST Trade Union Office, presented a draft report summarizing trade union work for the 2017-2023 term and orientation for the 2023-2028 term.

VAST Office’s Trade Union has 79 trade union members, including 40 party members. Every year, the Trade Union closely cooperates with the Office to ensure the legitimate rights and interests of union members, officials and employees, ensuring fairness and democracy; launch emulation movements and complete tasks well in the fields of consulting; work regularly according to the functions and tasks of the Office; and coordinate in performing tasks assigned by the President of the Institute. Trade union members also enthusiastically and actively participated in cultural, sports and mass cultural movements launched by the superior trade union; enthusiastically responded to fundraising campaigns, humanitarian blood donation activities, and the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic.

In the past term, with the efforts of union members and the attention of the Party Committee, the Office's leaders and the direction of the Academy's Trade Union; Individuals and collectives of the Office Trade Union received the Certificate of Merit "Being good at domestic work, taking care of housework" from the Vietnam Public Employees' Union and the Academy's Union; Emulation Flags, Certificates of Merit, Certificates of Merit from the President of the Academy, and many other Emulation Titles.

Besides, the Office Trade Union still faces some difficulties such as low income of union members, affecting life and activities, uneven level of union members.

Regarding the direction of trade union work for the term 2023-2028: The Office Trade Union continues to perform well the tasks directed by the Party Committee, the Office's Leaders and the VAST Trade Union; Promote patriotic emulation movements among cadres, civil servants, public employees and employees, actively respond to campaigns, set up achievements in professional and practical work to celebrate major holidays; Coordinate with the authorities to manage well all activities of the unit; Build a strong trade union; Improve the quality of training and retraining for trade union officials.

Congratulating the Congress on its success, Comrade Nguyen Thi Hue, President of the VAST Trade Union, recognized and praised the achievements that the VAST Office Union has achieved in the past term. She also suggested that the Office Trade Union continue to perform well the task of representing, taking care of and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of officials and union members in order to promote the role of trade union organizations; Renovate the content and mode of trade union activities, strengthen the exchange of experience with other trade unions, and coordinate with the youth union and socio-political organizations to create synergy in the task performance, create motivation for officials and union members, excitedly emulate, improve work efficiency, contribute to building the Office development.
