The seventh Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, term 2022-2027, is a great success

On June 9 and 10, 2022, the Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), term 2022-2027, took place at VAST. The event drew the participation of Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the VAST Party Committee, and President of VAST; Dr. Pham Tuan Huy, Standing Deputy Secretary of VAST Party Committee; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of VAST Party Committee, and Vice President of VAST; Mr. Tran Hoai Minh, Deputy Head of the International Department, the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; Mr. Bui Hoang Tung, Acting Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Central Agencies Bloc; representatives of leaders of mass organizations, office, functional departments and units under VAST, and 117 typical delegates representing 39 youth unions under Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of VAST.

The Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union is an important political forum and a great festival for the youth of VAST, a place where the wisdom, affection and enthusiasm of officials, union members and staff from VAST are gathered and shine . The congress aims at summarizing and evaluating the results of implementation of the Resolution of the Congress of the VAST Youth Union for the 2017-2022 term; determine the direction and tasks of the Youth Union and youth movement in the new term; elect the Executive Committee of the Youth Union for the term 2022-2027 and elect a delegation to attend the Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Central agencies for the term 2022-2027.

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of VAST is a district-level Youth Union under the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Central Agencies Bloc. Currently, the Youth Union of VAST has 39 affiliated Youth Union branches. Now, it has 1,295 members. Most of the union members have graduate degrees, many of them have master's and doctorate degrees. During the last term, under the guidance of the Party Central Agencies Bloc, the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of VAST has implemented many youth activities and movements that have high efficiency, completing, achieving and exceeding the set targets, especially in performing political tasks in accordance with the operational characteristics of the unit.

Addressing the congress, Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of VAST Party Committee, and President of VAST, said that in the last term, along with the development of the VAST, the Youth Union of VAST has made great efforts, striving, constantly growing and making important contributions to the overall success of the VAST. Mr. Minh also wished that the union members should regularly attach importance to political and ideological education, renewing and expanding the forms of union activities at the units. It is necessary to closely link the activities of the delegation with the political tasks of specialized institutes and of VAST; building a strong Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union comprehensively in terms of politics, ethics and ideology.

At the Congress, the delegates listened to the Review Report of the Executive Board of the Youth Union for the 2017-2022 term; Project on building the Executive Board for the term 2022-2027; Report on summarizing opinions and comments on the draft document of the Youth Union at all levels; Report summarizing the work of the Youth Union and movement of the VAST for the term 2017-2022, directions and tasks for the term 2022-2027; presentations of affiliated youth unions. The congress determined that the common goals of the Youth Union's work and youth movement for the new term 2022-2027 are: (1) Fostering a healthy and comprehensive development of the young generation; (2) Building and consolidating the organization of the Youth Union, which is comprehensively strong in ideology, politics, organization and action; (3) Strongly promoting the pioneering, impulsive and creative role of young people in researching and mastering science and technology, especially in international integration and digital transformation, making active contributions to the rapid and sustainable science and technology development of VAST.

The Congress also elected an Executive Board for the new term. After a period of urgent and serious work, on the afternoon of June 9, 2022, the Congress elected 21 capable and enthusiastic comrades to the Executive Board of the Youth Union of VAST for the term 2022-2027. Late afternoon on the June 9, 2022, the Executive Board of the new term held the first meeting to elect key positions of the Youth Union of VAST, the Standing Committee that consisted of 5 comrades: Mr. Phan Ke Son, Mr. Dang Quoc Dai, Mr. Pham Thanh Dang, Mr. Ha Ngoc Anh, and Mr. Hoang Quoc Nam. Comrade Phan Ke Son was elected as Secretary, Comrade Dang Quoc Dai and Comrade Pham Thanh Dang were elected as Deputy Secretary. At the same time, at the first meeting of the Executive Committee of the Youth Union, an Inspection Committee of the Youth Union of VAST consisting of 5 comrades were also elected: Mr. Pham Thanh Dang, Mr. Dang Thanh Binh, Mr. Tran Tuan Duong, Mrs. Vu Thi Tuyet Nhung, and Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trong. Comrade Pham Thanh Dang was elected as Chairman of an Inspection Committee of the Youth Union of VAST. On the morning of June 10, 2022, the second session of the Congress elected a delegation to attend the 4th Congress of the Central Agencies Bloc Youth Union, including 06 official delegates and 02 alternate delegates.

At the Congress, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union decided to award the insignia "For the young generation" to the following comrades: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of VAST Party Committee, and Vice President of VAST; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Quy Quynh, Head of Organization and Personnel Department of VAST; Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hue, President of VAST Trade Union; Mr. Pham Thanh Son, President of VAST Veterans Association; and Prof. Dr. Nghiem Ngoc Minh, Vice Chairman of the VAST Trade Union. This is the highest award of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to recognize the interest, training and fostering of comrades for the young generation. In addition, the Standing Committee of the Youth Union of Central Agencies presented certificates of merit to the VAST Youth Union, 9 Youth Union branches and 15 individuals who achieved outstanding achievements in the "Young Creativity" movement of the VAST Youth Union for the period 2017-2022. After two days of hard work, with a high sense of responsibility, the Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of VAST for the term 2022-2027 took place successfully.
