Attending the seminar were Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha, Vice President of VAST, representatives of leaders of functional departments, and representatives of leaders of specialized research institutes under VAST. In addition, there were representatives of the Ministry of Finance, representatives of the Ministry of Science and Technology, NAFOSTED Fund, and representatives of Vingroup Innovation Fund. The seminar also had the participation of a large number of lecturers, researchers and postdoctoral project leaders and researchers of VAST.
At the seminar, Prof. Dr. Vu Dinh Lam, Director of the Academy of Science and Technology, presented the report "Evaluating the post-doctoral program of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, period 2017-2022, orientation for the implementation plan 2023-2028". The objective of the Program is to create post-doctoral scientific and technological human resources for VAST, meeting the needs of VAST’s development according to the Master Plan on development of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology until the year 2020 and orientation to 2030; Building a model according to international practices, linking training of human resources at post-doctoral level with scientific research activities at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; Encouraging, creating motivation and passion about scientific research for scientists to study and work at VAST, and through the implementation of the post-doctoral program, building human resources with knowledge and experience to become researchers of VAST.
The program has attracted 116 participating topics/assignments (109 topics and 7 tasks). The post-doctoral program is also a premise to promote research directions in key science and technology fields of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. The research results of the projects under the Program are also the basis for the project manager to build, develop and organize the implementation of larger topics and tasks. In addition, the Program is also meaningful in the connection between scientific research and training, which is a premise for the New PhD students to develop their passion for scientific research, and continue to promote the direction of in-depth research on the PhD thesis topic.
During the implementation of the post-doctoral thesis, the project leaders have demonstrated their research capacity and organized effective research groups. Up to now, nearly 60 project managers have been recruited to work at the units, of which more than 40 staff members were recruited to work at VAST. Up to now, the Program has more than 200 works published in domestic and foreign journals, of which more than 100 works have been published in international journals of the SCI-E system, and nearly 100 published in other international and prestigious national magazines. This result contributes to an increase in the number of publications of the Academy of Science and Technology in particular and Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology in general.
In addition, the Program also has a positive impact on undergraduate and graduate training of the Academy of Science and Technology. The results of these tasks have supported the training of more than 20 doctors, nearly 40 masters and many bachelors and engineers. The seminar also featured papers discussed by the subject leaders on the impact of the topic on the individual project leader in improving research qualifications, management capacity, and strong research group organization, as well as for the training of research staff in general.
