Implementing Directive 35-CT/TW dated June 14, 2024 of the Politburo and Plan 182-KH/ĐUK dated July 29, 2024 of the Party Committee of the Central Agencies "on organizing party congresses at all levels, towards the 14th Congress of the Party Committee of the Central Agencies, term 2025 - 2030 and the 14th National Congress of the Party" and guiding documents of the Central Committee and the Party Committee of the Central Agencies, the Party Committee of the VAST has actively deployed preparations for the 9th Congress of the Party Committee of the VAST, term 2025 - 2030.

In the first nine months of 2024, the Party Committee of the VAST focused on leading and directing the completion of assigned political tasks and achieved many important results in implementing political tasks; training of science and technology human resources and fostering of cadres; technology deployment, application of research results in production and life; international cooperation, information, publishing; organization - cadre and inspection work; digital transformation work; political, ideological and ethical leadership work; Party building organization work; inspection, supervision and leadership of mass mobilization work and mass organizations.
After listening to the draft reports, the Conference discussed and contributed many opinions, clarified the results achieved in the first nine months of the year, and proposed key solutions to effectively implement the assigned tasks in the last three months of 2024 and voted to basically approve the content of the Report on the results of Party work in the first nine months of the year, key tasks of the work in the last three months of 2024 of the Party Committee of the VAST; Approved the Project to merge the Nha Trang Institute of Research and Technology Application into the Institute of Oceanography, the Party Cell of the Nha Trang Institute of Research and Technology Application into the Party Committee of the Institute of Oceanography; Approved the Draft outline of the Political Report to be submitted to the 9th Congress of the Party Committee of the VAST, term 2025 - 2030; Approved the Resolution of the 18th Conference of the Party Committee of the VAST.
The conference also listened to a thematic report on “Earthquake situation in KonPlong District (Kon Tum) and proposed solutions to minimize damage” presented by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Anh, Director of the Institute of Geophysics.
