Study on effect of extraction and bioactive experiment on La Vang Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume, Cam Lo District, Quang Tri Province
Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume in nature
Research from 1984 showed that Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume has terpenoid, bitter glycosid, flavonoid and syringin. Many compounds of high pharmaceutical value have been known and recognized in Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume such as betulin, betulinic acid, 3β-acetyl-oleanoic acid, lupeol, β-sitosterol, rutin, astragalin, iso-quercetrin, nicotiflorin, verbascosid, isoverbascosid, iso-oleoverbascosid, apiosylbascosid, 6"-O-menthiafoloylverbascoside, Daucosterol, Dotriacontanol.
In order to exploit the potential of the precious substances of the Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume, the Institute of Natural Products Chemistry under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology has conducted research on the efficiency of extracting and testing the bioactive experiment of La Vang Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume in Cam Lo District, Quang Tri province. The work was carried out under the sponsorship of Project HD06/2016/DT: “Study on the chemical composition and biological active ingredients of La Vang Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume and turmeric to orient the natural product chain to raise herbal’s value” by the Institute of Natural Products Chemistry in coordination with the Quang Tri Provincial Department of Science and Technology.
During the implementation of the project from October 2016 to the end of August 2017, besides confirming the precious bioactive compounds of terpene glycosid, the work isolated Chevangin B and a new active ingredient extracted from Quang Tri Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume - 1-hydroxyanatolioside-B which is antioxidant and antibacterial. Rutin, astragalin, iso-quercetin and diverse isolated biological substances were also found in La Vang Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume in Quang Tri province. The work extracted and quantified Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume flower oil which are limonene, linalool (47.46%), terpineol, geraniol (11.72%), geranial (1.38%), nerolidol, hexenyl benzoate, phenylethyl tiglate, tetradecanal and pentadecanallinalool.
Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume seeds contain 1.05% fatty oils, including 53.1% unsaturated fatty acids such as 9,12-octadecenoic, 9-octadecenoic and heptadecenoic which are good for heart, reduces atherosclerosis, increases metabolic absorption, and reduces bad cholesterol. Apart from substances melting in water, most active ingredients of Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume which are not extractable suit the water environment. Therefore, the research extract bioactive fractions using different extractive solvents at suitable concentrations, optimal time and temperature, thus evaluating bioactive activity, and developing natural products supporting health protection from medicinal herbs of Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume in Quang Tri.
La Vang and Cam Lo Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume in Quang Tri is dried and finely ground for research. The results showed that using ethanol at 60-80 degrees, extracting temperature of 60-65 degrees Celcius during 90 minutes can yield paste at productivity of 29.03-30.25%, the total amount of polyphenol at 17.4-19.2%, higher than the commercial paste in the market. La Vang and Cam Lo Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume samples melting in water, alcohol and ethyl acetate have a high antioxidant activity at 12.7-158.2 μg/l, in which the CVLV-Ethyl acetate sample gains highest with SC50 = 12.7 μg l compared with the other samples. Most of the extracted fractions have active anti-microbial activity of 1-3. In the solvent of n-hexane and CH2Cl2, La Vang and Cam Lo Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume exhibits poison for liver cancer cell Hep-G2, the sample CVLV- CH2Cl2 has activity against liver cancer cell Hep_G2 and lung cancer cell LU-1. Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume samples have a higher total polyphenol content than TCVN9740-2013.
With the extracting - condensed vacuum circulating modern system, the product of the research keeps the precious active ingredients Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume. The dried or soluble Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume with the trademark “Tralavang” which is produced based on the research of the Institute of Natural Products Chemistry under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology dissolve quickly in water, in blue, without oxidation, aroma of essential oils and natural bitter taste, with effect to support liver function, anti-oxidant anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, support health recovery for women after giving birth. This subject was evaluated and accepted by the Provincial Science and Technology Council on August 31, 2017.
On that basis, on September 6, 2017, the Quang Tri Provincial Department of Science and Technology transferred the results of the topic “Research on the chemical composition and biological active substances of La Vang Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume and turmeric, to orient the production of natural products and raise the value of herbs”, to the Centre for Application of Science and Technology in Quang Tri Province, for production and continued completion of technology and other conditions for the commercialization of the research.
The leaders of the Quang Tri Provincial Department of Science and Technology said: “Initially scientists have successfully extracted biological active substances from Jasminum subtriplinerve Blume to produce products mixed from the above active ingredients with some medicinal plants.”
