Strengthening coordination in implementing the science and technology cooperation agreement between Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Hanoi People’s Committee

On May 20, 2026, at the headquarters of the Hanoi People’s Committee, Truong Viet Dung, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, and Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh, Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), co-chaired a meeting to review the progress of cooperative activities under the “Cooperation Agreement on Research, Application of Science and Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation for the 2025–2030 Period between Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Hanoi People’s Committee”, signed on December 23, 2025.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the leadership of the Departments of Agriculture and Environment, Science and Technology, Construction, Home Affairs, Industry and Trade, and Planning and Architecture; representatives of the leadership of the Hanoi Institute for Socio-Economic Development Studies, the Hanoi Capital Command, the Hanoi Police Department, the Hanoi Institute for Construction Planning and other relevant agencies. Representing VAST were leaders of affiliated units, including the Department of Science and Technology, the Institute of Energy and Environmental Science and Technology, the Institute of Chemistry, the Institute of Biology, the Institute of Materials Science, the Institute of Information Technology, the Institute of Earth Sciences, the Vietnam National Space Center, the High-Tech Innovation Centre, and the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi.

Overview of the meeting

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh stated that VAST had proactively coordinated with the Hanoi Institute for Socio-Economic Development Studies and relevant departments and agencies to review, discuss, agree upon and implement cooperation tasks under the signed agreement. To date, VAST has proposed key areas of cooperation, including seven groups of tasks addressing environmental issues, focusing on environmental management, water resources, disaster prevention and digital transformation; and five groups of tasks developed based on the directives of the Hanoi Party Committee leadership and the leadership of VAST.

Truong Viet Dung highly appreciated VAST’s proactive approach in proposing cooperation tasks to support the development of the capital. He also requested relevant departments and agencies to continue working closely with VAST’s affiliated units to review and refine cooperation contents, ensuring their feasibility, effectiveness and alignment with Hanoi’s development orientation in the coming period, with a view to securing approval and implementation during 2026.
