Slovak delegation pays working visit to VAST
During the reception, VAST President Chau Van Minh warmly welcomed the Slovak delegation’s visit, giving them an introduction about VAST organization and prioritized research areas. Apart from research institutes, VAST establishes 2 universities; therefore, VAST pays great attention to cooperation in education, and exchange of students and lecturers.
According to VAST President, earlier, VAST and the Slovak Academy of Sciences signed a deal of cooperation in science and technology lasting for 3 years from 1998. He expressed his hope that the Slovak Ambassador would give best support to VAST in cooperating with Slovak research and training agencies, especially reconnecting scientific and technological cooperation with the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
The Slovak Ambassador stressed that the Government of Slovakia attached great importance to developing sciences, and the budget for scientific research was increasing. At present, the Slovak Government puts aside 1.8% of GDP for scientific development and the figure will be increased to 2% by 2020.
The Slovak Ambassador confirmed that cooperation with Vietnam held a lot of potential, as many scientists from VAST studied and lived in Slovakia, which helped eliminate the language barrier. Meanwhile, the two countries can support each other as their prioritized research areas are rather similar. In addition, the two sides receive support from the two Governments and States.
According to the Slovak Ambassador, Slovakia gives priorities in food industry, nano industry, biological industry, material sciences, energy science, space technology, automobile technology, and modern agricultural industry.
VAST President Chau Van Minh added that he hoped the two sides would sign a deal on scientific cooperation in prioritized areas.
