Signing ceremony between project management board “Vietnam Universe Center” and JICA Consultant Group on investigative research to prepare for a project to cope with climate changes and disasters utilizing the monitoring system by satellite

Research on facing disasters and climate changes utilizing the earth monitoring system is a project which plays a strategic important role in Vietnam and Japan. In 2009, the Vietnamese government proposed the Japanese government to support the project, including:
- Investigating facilities for the monitoring system as a method to cope with disasters and climate changes.
- Building relevant capacity by the Official Development Aids of Japan according to ODA loans.
The prepare for the above project, JICA conducted a survey to study real situations and development plans of the earth monitoring system to minimize disasters in Vietnam as well as determine the effectiveness and feasibility of the project.
Addressing at the ceremony, Prof. Chau Van Minh, President of the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technology, congratulated the JICA working group for their close cooperation with Vietnamese colleagues for six months in Vietnam. The Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technology pledged to give positive support for JICA experts’ group to complete their missions.
Mr. Hiroshi Kanai, deputy chief of JICA Representative hoped that the results of the investigation and survey to prepare for the project “Coping with climate changes and disasters utilizing the monitoring system by satellite” this time would be more adequate and comprehensive. This would open the possibility for more regular and effective cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in the future.
