06/09/2021
The component project "Developing a soil sample set in the Northeast, Vietnam", code BSTMV.30/19-22, has been tested and accepted by the State Council for Science and Technology, on April 8, 2021.

Collection of soil samples representing the Northeast and Red River Delta, together with databases of major soil types to serve research, exchange, sightseeing and awareness raising for people about this valuable resource, is absolutely necessary to protect and improve the efficiency of using land resources in Vietnam, contributing to perfecting soil samples for display and conservation and preservation of the system of specimens of Vietnam's nature of the Vietnam Nature Museum system.

The project implemented in the period 2019-2020 has made notable new contributions as follows:
+ Collecting 12 monolithic soil specimens for display and 144 research specimens representing alluvial soil groups of the Northeast and Red River Delta.
+ Building a map of the locations of specimen collection.
+ Developing dossier of specimen collection, including: description, soil analysis data, activity photos, and sampling location map.
+ Contributing to enriching the scientific database on land resources; supplement and complete a comprehensive and integrated approach to solve the problems.
+ The project will directly improve the research capacity of scientists of the Institute of Geography and other coordinating agencies in the field of collecting, storing and displaying soil specimens.
+ The collection of soil samples in the Northeast and the Red River Delta is a valuable document in the research against land degradation, desertification, environmental protection and geographical indications in tourism and trade.

The results of building a soil sample set in Northeast Vietnam contribute to enriching the scientific database on soil resources; supplementing and completing the comprehensive approach; fostering and training science and technology staff; improving the capacity and scientific level in the field of collecting, storing and displaying soil specimens and the ability of scientific staff to organize and implement projects.

Through the implementation of the project, the Institute of Geography and the coordinating agencies have the opportunity to collect and update the database of land resources in the Northeast and the Red River Delta, towards building and completing the land resources database in Vietnam to serve the management and economical use of land resources.
