Senior cadres from Lao’s Champasak province visit VAST
The visit was in the framework of cooperation in science and technology between the Center for Training, Consultancy and Technology Transfer under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Champasak province of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
Prof. Chau Van Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, VAST Party secretary and VAST president; Nguyen Thanh Khoi, director of the Center for Training, Consultancy and Technology Transfer; and leaders of units assisting VAST president welcomed the delegation.
At the working session, Prof. Minh greeted the delegation with reference to the friendship and solidarity between the two countries. He also gave a brief introduction about scientific research and technology application in the academy, as well as opportunities for cooperation between Champasak province and VAST.

On behalf of the Lao delegation, Mr. Sonexay Siphandone appreciated VAST’s warm welcome. He hoped that VAST would continue supporting and helping the province in human resource training, administration management, and science and technology application in life and production, in order to promote socio-economic development in the province. He said that the cooperation between Champasak province and VAST would not only help the two sides develop, but also strengthen the friendship cooperation between the two parties and the two states.
- Coordinate to appraise the project on the master plan on development and application of technology in Champasak province in the 2012-2016 period, with orientations until 2020, which the center built to submit to the Lao government for approval in 2012;
- Cooperate with Champasak province in training and cultivating science and technology human resources, priority to train in the field of science and technology, remote sensing technology for cadres in Champasak province;
- Champasak province will coordinate with the center and the Institute of Geography to build a project establishing a natural disaster map and training cadres to improve disaster management ability in Champasak province;
- Champasak province will coordinate with the center to design and build an e-hospital information system for Champasak provincial hospital;
- Support consultancy experts for the province in defining science and technology tasks, appraise projects to invest in technology renovation and transfer;
