Seminar and book exhibition mark Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day at Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology

At an event held at the Library of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology on April 17, 2026, the Centre of Scientific Data and Information, in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the academy, organised a seminar titled “Innovation ecosystem – a foundation for strategic technology development” alongside a book exhibition. The event was a key activity marking the 5th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, while also responding to Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18) and looking ahead to the anniversary of the academy’s establishment (May 20, 1975 – May 20, 2026).

Delivering the opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Van Thanh, Deputy Director of the Centre of Scientific Data and Information, noted that as the focal unit responsible for managing data, information and communications on science and technology, innovation and digital transformation within the academy, the centre consistently identifies its role in connecting, sharing and disseminating knowledge resources, with books and scientific publications at the core. He expressed confidence that through the event’s practical activities, connections among scientists, training institutions, students and enterprises would be further strengthened, while reading culture and academic spirit would continue to spread, contributing to the sustainable development of the innovation ecosystem.

The highlight of the event was an in-depth seminar on “Innovation ecosystem – a foundation for strategic technology development”. Participants had the opportunity to hear multi-dimensional analyses from two distinguished speakers on building and operating innovation ecosystems in basic research and education, covering mechanisms to promote applied research, technology development and the commercialisation of research outcomes. The seminar also shared practical experiences in developing strategic technology products.

As part of the programme, the book exhibition runs from April 17 to May 21, 2026 at the academy’s library, attracting a large number of researchers and students. More than 500 titles and outstanding scientific publications are on display, including monographs, reference books, textbooks and a wide range of academic works across science and technology fields.

Students explore books at the exhibition

A highlight of the exhibition is the display of 12 scientific journals of the academy, along with publications from the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH), featuring more than 200 titles, as well as scientific publications from IGroup Vietnam and Pi Magazine of the Vietnam Mathematical Society. In addition, a book donation activity offers more than 200 titles to readers, helping to promote reading culture and expand access to scientific knowledge. Notably, the exhibition space also features 50 archival photographs showcasing the 50-year journey of the academy’s development (May 20, 1975 – May 20, 2025).
