Seminar and Book Exhibition “Artificial Intelligence – Opportunities and Challenges”
In particular, the event also has the meaning of welcoming the Patriotic Emulation Congress at all levels and celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (1975-2025). The event took place live and was streamed online on the channels: Facebook Science and Technology Newsletter, Facebook Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
The event was attended by many scientists from units under VAST, youth union members from branches under VAST’s Youth Union and students from the Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
The speakers of the Seminar are Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Phi Le - Lecturer at the School of Information and Communication Technology, Director of the Institute for Research and Application of Artificial Intelligence (Hanoi University of Science and Technology) and Dr. Phan Ke Son - Member of the Executive Committee of the Government Delegation, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of VAST.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Nga - Director of the Center for Scientific Data and Information affirmed: “Books are symbols of knowledge. In the digital age, although the form of expression has changed, the core value of books has not faded. On the contrary, books are changing more strongly, becoming more modern in their approach and becoming closer to readers. I believe that this event is not only an opportunity to meet and exchange knowledge but also a space to spread the love of books, arouse the culture of reading, contribute to nurturing the spirit of lifelong learning, encourage research and inspire scientific creativity in the community, especially the young generation”.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Phi Le with the lecture "Artificial Intelligence - Strength, Limits and Opportunities for Vietnam"
With the theme "Generative Artificial Intelligence - Strength, Limits and Opportunities for Vietnam", Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Phi Le brought in-depth perspectives on AI, from theory to application, in the context of the world entering a strong digital era and a comprehensive view of the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI. The explosion of generative AI began to explode from 2024, with rapid growth and profound impact on most fields: from education, healthcare, finance to media and arts. Breakthrough AI products such as ChatGPT, OpenAISora, AlphaGeometry and DeepMind AlpgaFold. Different from predictive AI - which mainly analyzes existing data to produce results or trends, generative AI opens up the ability to create new content, from text, images, sounds to 3D models, based on deep learning from input data. Generative AI has marked a major step forward in technology in the journey of simulating human thinking. The application of AI and generative AI helps reduce many working hours in agencies and units; helps process data better... However, AI only plays a supporting role, cannot completely replace humans.
Dr. Phan Ke Son with the article "How do young people of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology approach AI in the current situation"
As a young researcher, Dr. Phan Ke Son said that in the context of the Government issuing the National Strategy on Research, Development and Application of Artificial Intelligence to 2030 under Decision No. 127/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, VAST has many strengths and potentials in scientific research, technology development and AI application deployment. In particular, the Academy owns the largest specialized databases in the country, which is considered an important foundation for building "Big Data" to serve the AI strategy in the future. In addition, VAST has proactively invested and built specialized research centers on AI at many affiliated units such as the Institute of Information Technology, the Center for High Technology Research and Development, the Institute of Physics, the Vietnam Space Center and the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi.
Dr. Phan Ke Son also emphasized the pioneering role of VAST’s youth force in scientific research, especially the flexibility and agility in approaching new technologies, especially AI. To exploit the advantages of AI in learning and research, the young research team needs to constantly learn, improve skills, develop critical thinking and verify information in today's digital environment.
Within the framework of the event, the Book Exhibition took place with hundreds of books and specialized magazines from the Library of the Center for Scientific Data and Information, the Publishing House of Natural Sciences and Technology, Pi Magazine (Vietnam Mathematical Society) and Igroup Vietnam Company. In particular, the Organizing Committee presented valuable books to readers, especially students and young researchers to add motivation and passion to the journey of knowledge discovery.
