Second "Green Sunday" in 2024 Launched - Celebrating 49th anniversary of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology

On May 20, 2024, the Youth Union of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST Youth Union) organized the launching ceremony of the second "Green Sunday" in 2024, to enhance the pioneering spirit of young people in response to climate change, the "Green Sunday" helps improve the self-awareness of each officer and youth union member in VAST on environmental protection. The activity takes place during the week to celebrate Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18); celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the 49th anniversary of VAST (May 20, 1975 - May 20, 2024); Celebrate the success of the Congress of Youth Unions under VAST’s Youth Union for the term 2024-2027 and the Professional Training Conference on Union work in 2024 for the Secretaries of the Youth Unions under the VAST's Youth Union.

Attending the launching ceremony were Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Tuan Anh, member of the Executive Committee of the Central Agencies Bloc Party Committee, Deputy Secretary of VAST Party Committee, Vice President of VAST; Comrade Le Sy Tung, member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Union Affairs Committee, Chief of VAST Office; Comrade Nguyen Thanh Son, Chairman of VAST Veterans Association. On the side of VAST Youth Union were comrade Phan Ke Son, Member of the Executive Committee of the Youth Union of Central Agencies Bloc Party Committee, Secretary of VAST Youth Union; Comrades in the Standing Committee of VAST Youth Union, the Executive Committee of the Hanoi Regional VAST Youth Union and the large participation of union members and youth of the Youth Union's affiliated branches in the Hanoi Regional VAST Youth Union.

Within the framework of "Green Sunday", the VAST Youth Union coordinated to carry out activities, including cleaning, sweeping the entire area in front of the Central building and House A1, cleaning the air conditioning lake in front of Building A2, plastic waste collection at headquarters at 18 Hoang Quoc Viet, Cau Giay, Hanoi.

The second "Green Sunday" program in 2024 takes place in a vibrant and exciting atmosphere. This is an opportunity for youth union members to exchange, promote the spirit of solidarity, enhance self-awareness and responsibility of each union member and youth in VAST regarding environmental protection, while promoting the proactive, volunteer and creative spirit of the VAST's Youth in maintaining hygiene, protecting the environment, and responding to climate change; create a vibrant emulation movement for the Youth Union organization to participate in building a "Green - Clean - Beautiful" working environment.

After the second "Green Sunday" launching ceremony in 2024, the Youth Union continues to launch the "Green Sunday" movement to affiliated units and organizations of the Youth Union, proactively propagating and mobilizing each cadre and youth union members actively participate in activities to maintain environmental hygiene and landscape around the unit, spreading "Green Sunday" activities increasingly in depth, substance and sustainability.
