Scientist from Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology wins 2018 Ta Quang Buu Award
Earlier, on April 25, 2018, the 2018 Ta Quang Buu Award Council held a meeting to review, evaluate and select scientists proposed by scientific councils specialized in the field of natural and technical sciences of the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED). At the end of the meeting, the Council selected three scientists and asked the Minister of Science and Technology to present them Ta Quang Buu Awards in 2018.
The Ta Quang Buu Award is organized annually by the Ministry of Science and Technology to encourage and honor outstanding scientists in basic research in the field of natural sciences and technology.

This year"s main prizes were presented to two scientists: First, Dr. Tran Dinh Phong – the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), author of the work in the field of physics named “Coordination polymer structure and revisited hydrogen evolution catalytic mechanism for amorphous molybdenum sulfide” published in Nature Materials, 15, 640-646; and Second, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Hung – the International University, Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh city, author of the work in the field of agricultural biology named “In vitro digestibility and in vivo glucose response of native and physically modified rice starches varying amylose contents” published in the Food Chemistry Journal.
An award for young scientist was presented to Dr. Do Quoc Tuan, University of Science, Vietnam National University - Hanoi, with a scientific work in the field of physics entitled “Higher dimensional nonlinear massive gravity” published in Physical Review D 93, 104003.
The award ceremony is expected to be held on the occasion of the Vietnam Science and Technology Day on May 18, 2018, in Hanoi.
