On March 27 and 28, 2014, at the Office of the Small Satellite Project Management Board (Vietnam Institute of Science and Technology) took place the Scientific Conference "Coordinating activities between two satellite systems observing VNREDSat- 1 (Vietnam) and Thaichote (Thailand) ”. Attending the Conference, on the Vietnamese side, there were leaders of the Management Board of the small satellite project, the International Cooperation Department (VAST), the Department of National Remote Sensing (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment); On the Thai side, there were representatives of the Agency for Geographic Information and Technology Development (GISTDA, Thailand). In addition, the workshop also attended by experts and engineers who directly involved in operating and operating satellite systems VNREDSat-1 and Thaichote.

At the Conference, in addition to reviewing the results achieved in the 6-month trial period, the coordination of the two VNREDSat-1 and Thaichote satellite systems (also known as THEOS) began in early December 2013. , the two sides worked together to draw experiences, discuss and set up the next cooperative directions, including quick response projects for natural disasters and unexpected events.

Previously, the two sides collaborated to take photos of areas on the Earth"s surface to compare, evaluate and adjust the image data obtained from the two satellite systems VNREDSat-1 and Thaichote. Especially, the two sides have coordinated to operate two satellite systems in an effort to participate in the search for Boeing 777 aircraft number MH370 of the missing national airline Malaisia in the past. These cooperation results are an important first step and open up the potential for cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand in the effective exploitation and use of VNREDSat-1 and Thaichote satellite systems, contributing to the development of termites. sustainable cooperation relations between Vietnam and Thailand in particular and Southeast Asia in general.
