Important milestones in innovation and application of modern technology
In scientific research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Long Giang and his colleagues have achieved remarkable achievements in many fields such as information security and data management. In 2021, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Long Giang chaired the international cooperation task: "Developing encryption methods and protocols for exchanging and distributing pseudo-probabilistic keys to ensure information security", bringing a breakthrough in post-quantum cryptography, especially the development of blind digital signature schemes and protocols that are resistant to attacks from quantum computers. The application of the hidden discrete logarithm problem (HDLP) combined with the finite non-commutative algebraic structure (FNAA) creates security methods that can protect information against quantum computing technologies. This is a big step forward in solving the security challenges of the digital age, especially when quantum technology is becoming a major threat to current encryption systems. The research also has high potential for practical application in electronic voting systems and state agencies and organizations. The cryptographic schemes developed from the research not only help protect information in quantum computing environments but also meet the needs of national information security when new technologies are developing strongly. The success of the project opens up great opportunities for the application of post-quantum cryptography in the fields of security, defense and e-government, contributing to ensuring information security.
Notably, in 2022-2023, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Long Giang and his colleagues made an important mark in the field of data science and artificial intelligence (AI) through the Project: "Building a national-scale scientific and technological research data management platform using cloud computing and big data technology". The goal of the Project is to build a modern system for managing national-scale scientific and technological research data with funding from the VinGroup Innovation Fund (VINIF). The research team's Openscience.vn platform provides a comprehensive ecosystem, supporting scientists, lecturers, students and research experts to store, manage, share and exploit scientific and technological research data. The system has integrated tools for developing data analysis models, machine learning and AI applications, helping to improve the efficiency of research and technology development in Vietnam. Based on advanced technologies such as big data processing, cloud computing and machine learning, this platform is designed with a modern integrated architecture, meeting the increasing requirements for data management and exploitation. Openscience.vn also acts as a bridge, promoting the scientific community to access AI applications more conveniently.
Technology integration architecture of Openscience.vn platform
At the event “Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Day - AI4VN” in Ho Chi Minh City in September 2023, the Openscience.vn platform was officially announced and put into operation. The signing ceremony between the National Agency for Science and Technology Information (NASATI) and partners affirmed the importance of the Project in realizing the National Strategy on Research, Development and Application of Artificial Intelligence by 2030.

Currently, the platform is operating effectively at the National Agency for Science and Technology Information, becoming an essential part of the open, transparent and efficient data infrastructure in Vietnam. This is not only the mark of Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Long Giang and his colleagues but also a big step forward contributing to Vietnam's strong integration into the global 4.0 technology trend.
Sharing about his most favorite work, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Long Giang said: The two studies in the field of fuzzy systems and rough set theory are the result of a dedicated and creative working process, bringing practical values in complex data processing and artificial intelligence. For him and his colleagues, these are memorable steps in the journey of scientific research. The first work was published in IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems (2020), the research team proposed a new incremental algorithm for attribute reduction from dynamic decision tables, combining filters, covers and fuzzy partition distances. This method not only helps to reduce the number of attributes that need to be analyzed but also maintains or improves the accuracy of the model, while enhancing the efficiency of big data processing. This is a big step forward in the context of increasingly complex and constantly changing data, with potential applications in artificial intelligence, data analysis and decision-making systems; Following the success, the article scheduled to be published in the International Journal of Approximate Reasoning (2025) has expanded the research direction by developing an incremental attribute reduction method based on α, β-level intuitionistic fuzzy sets. The work provides a flexible and efficient processing solution in dynamic information systems where data changes frequently. Without the need to recalculate from scratch, the method allows for quick attribute reduction updates, saving resources and time. The two studies are the passion of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Long Giang and his team put theory into practice, opening up new directions for data science and artificial intelligence.
The scientific achievements of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Long Giang are a testament to the harmonious connection between theory and practice, between passion for research and responsibility to the community. His research works bring practical values, supporting the community to access modern technological achievements in a sustainable and effective manner. The efforts of him and his colleagues are affirming the capacity and creativity of scientists of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology on the journey to find new technological solutions to meet the challenges and requirements of modern society.
