Scientific conference "Solutions of IoT-AI integrated system to ensure train safety"

Overview of the conference
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Director Pham Thanh Mai said that the project has been implemented since 2020, so far, the registration work has been completed. Director Pham Thanh Mai hopes that the workshop will shed more light on the role and value of the results obtained in the research and application process in the railway industry.

At the Conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Quang said, in the National Strategy on the 4th Industrial Revolution to 2030, the Prime Minister signed Decision 2289/QD-TTg dated December 31, 2020 assigning the Ministry of Transport: “Application of priority technology to actively participate in the Fourth Industrial Revolution in project planning, construction quality management; managing, exploiting and maintaining the transport infrastructure system and operating and organizing traffic”.
The project "Intelligent signal information system for railway crossings combined with train driving aids" was carried out with the goal of not only contributing to railway safety, but also helping to reduce costs in the application of technology to prioritize the development of the transportation industry.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Quang said that now there are new technologies applied to the railway industry to ensure common train operation safety, such as the automatic warning system of railway crossings by seismic sensors and embedded computers. (2004 industry standard, Asia Pacific Gold Cup award for best application of ICT in industry); The system of tape recorders, driver assistance, and digital maps of VNR has been deployed to passenger trains since 2007; Automated rolling stock identification system, managing the position of wagons in the VNR network; Intelligent warning system on wagons.
During the research process, the topic used core technologies including fog computing, low energy wide area radio sensor network (LPWAN), Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence AI. In-depth reports at the conference clarified the results after 2 years of research such as: IoT sensor system in low-energy car detection; crossroad obstacle monitoring AI system; tape recorders, steering aids, manoeuvrable connections (devices on locomotives); Central software system monitors train journey, IoT sensor system detects trains and real-time crossing points.

At the conference, the delegates highly appreciated the products of the topic through the actual test results, some related issues were further discussed such as the standard standards applied to the product, the degree of reliability of IoT sensors in detecting low-energy cars, installing and testing the project's products in Da Nang City, etc.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Danh Huy, Director of the Planning and Investment Department, Ministry of Transport, assessed that the research results are highly applicable, compared with the use of foreign products. The quality products of the project will help reduce costs, contribute to the development and ensure railway safety in particular, and promote the development of the transportation industry in general. With the contributions of the delegates, he hoped that the products of the project would be more complete, and at the same time, he hoped that effective coordination between scientists and policy makers would be achieved in promoting the introduction of domestic products into practical applications.
