Scientific and Architectural Conference in the New Era: Creativity – Collaboration – Dedication

30/06/2025
In an effort to strengthen the connection between scientific and technological researchers and professionals in the fields of design consultancy, architecture, construction, and investment/business, as well as to promote the practical application of science and technology (S&T), on June 2, 2025, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), in collaboration with Sunjin Vietnam Co., Ltd., organized the conference entitled Scientific and Architectural Conference in the New Era: Creativity – Collaboration – Dedication. Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh, Vice President of VAST, attended and chaired the event.

Overview of the Conference

Representing VAST at the conference were Mr. Trinh Thanh Giang – Senior Advisor to the President of VAST; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Tien Dung – Director of the Department of Application and Development of Technology; MSc. Le Sy Tung – Chief of the Office of VAST; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Van Manh – Director of the Institute of Energy and Environmental Technology; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Truong Thang  – Director of the Institute of Information Technology; Prof. Dr. Tran Dai Lam – Director of the Institute of Materials Science; and Dr. Lai Hop Phong – Deputy Director of the Institute of Earth Sciences.

On behalf of Sunjin Vietnam Co., Ltd., Mr. Tran Nguyen Quang – General Director of Sunjin Vietnam Joint Venture Company – attended along with representatives from several companies including ArchiVina Consulting Joint Stock Company, INNO Joint Stock Company, Viet Architecture Joint Stock Company, CDC Construction Joint Stock Company, Sunis Interior Solutions Joint Stock Company, and Lumi Vietnam Joint Stock Company.

Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh speaks at the Conference

According to Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh, in implementing Resolution 57 and contributing to the implementation of Government Resolution 68, VAST is currently formulating a development plan that includes a comprehensive infrastructure master plan. This plan involves the creation of international-standard laboratories and facilities with diverse architectural and technical requirements for scientific research and technology deployment across various disciplines. These include analytical research blocks, new materials, energy and environmental technology, information technology, as well as training and application-deployment sectors. This conference serves as a foundational platform for scientists, design consultants, architects, construction professionals, and investors to exchange and share vital information necessary for developing a master planning design that aligns with VAST's future needs. The projects must meet modernization criteria according to international standards and reflect principles of green, intelligent, user- and environmentally-friendly architecture that optimizes energy efficiency and meets the specific research requirements of each scientific field.

Remarks from Conference Participants

Beyond discussions on the Academy’s overall infrastructure planning, VAST scientists and professionals in design, architecture, and construction shared information and explored collaborative opportunities in applying scientific technologies developed by VAST. These include new construction materials (e.g., fire-resistant coatings, soundproof and anti-corrosion materials, and specialized materials for unique structures); the use of solar and geothermal energy and intelligent lighting systems; AI applications in smart home and smart city project design and operations; and in the field of Earth sciences, geotechnical and geological engineering solutions for construction projects and underground spatial planning.

Mr. Tran Nguyen Quang, General Director of Sunjin Vietnam Joint Venture Company, Speaks at the Conference

On behalf of Sunjin Vietnam Joint Venture Company, Mr. Tran Nguyen Quang expressed his delight that scientists from VAST and professionals in design, architecture, and construction found common ground during the conference, paving the way for promising cooperation. He hopes that through such partnerships, construction projects will incorporate the results of Vietnamese scientific research, adding cultural value and identity to the structures. Moreover, the design and architecture sector could become a channel for promoting Vietnamese scientific innovations to broader audiences.

In his concluding remarks, Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh emphasized the importance of expanding exchanges between the two sectors. He assigned the Office of VAST to act as the central hub for providing information to design and construction consultants, and tasked the Department of Application and Development of Technology with leading expertise and coordinating collaborative and technology transfer initiatives. Both parties were also encouraged to jointly develop a proposal for a design competition to plan the overall infrastructure of VAST.
