Representative of Governor General of Vietnam at the Union Institute for Nuclear Research attended meeting of Scientific Council and worked with the Institute
As a national research organization assigned by the Government to lead Vietnam's activities at JINR, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology has recently implemented many cooperation activities with JINR, such as organizing conferences and joint research groups between the laboratories of JINR and the laboratory of the Institute of Physics, focusing mainly on nuclear problems, nuclear reactions and neutron physics; sent staff to study and research at JINR not only in the field of physics but also in other laboratories such as information technology, chemistry, and biomedicine.In 2019, VAST and JINR signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen scientific exchange activities and collaborate in research implementation so that VAST can effectively exploit the facilities and research experience of international scientist at JINR. VAST and JINR have successfully coordinated to organize the meeting of the Plenipotentiary Council and the JINR Finance Committee in Hanoi in 2019 and the international physics conference with the participation of many scientists in the Asia-Pacific region, opening up opportunities to promote cooperation in the region.
As the Plenipotentiary Representative of Vietnam at JINR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh had a meeting with the Vietnamese research team on the contents, research orientation as well as issues in the process of working and living at JINR. The Representative of Vietnam at JINR and the delegation were also introduced by the Institute about the organizational structure, activities and research direction of JINR as a multilateral international science and technology organization; visited the Laboratory of Neutron Physics, Laboratory of Radiation Biology, Laboratory of High Energy Physics, Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions and officially introduced at JINR at the 132nd Session of the Scientific Council of JINR. Representative of the Governor General of Vietnam at JINR, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh also attended the meeting to evaluate the VAST-JINR cooperation in the period of 2019-2022 with the participation of Prof. Acad. Grigory Trubnikov – Director of JINR, Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh – President of VAST and Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi. With JINR's appreciation for Vietnam as a founding member, active and reliable partner of JINR; in recognition of the effective cooperation between Vietnam and JINR in general and VAST and JINR and the support of the Embassy of Vietnam in Russia, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh, Representative of Vietnam at JINR also exchanged some proposals to promote research activities of Vietnam in general and VAST in particular at JINR. To continue implementing the cooperation effect, Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh and Prof. Acad. Grigory Trubnilov agreed and signed the Minutes of the meeting, serving as the basis for the effective implementation of the VAST-JINR Cooperation Agreement 2019.
On this occasion, VAST and JINR thanked Prof. Dr. Le Hong Khiem, Former plenipotentiary of Vietnam at JINR, for his positive contributions as plenipotentiary for the period 2012-2022. The two sides agreed in the coming time, Prof. Dr. Le Hong Khiem continues to participate in the development of cooperation between the parties as a coordinator.

| Vietnam is the 12th member country to sign the founding Convention of the Union Institute of Nuclear Research (JINR) in 1956; in which Vietnam Academy of Science, now Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, was assigned by the Government to be the Vietnamese Representative at this organization. JINR is the training center for many leading scientists in Vietnam in the field of Physics; supporting the construction of infrastructure for basic and applied research in the field of nuclear physics in Vietnam in general and VAST in particular, contributing to bringing science and technology applications into socio-economic development. VAST as Vietnam Representative at JINR organizes and leads Vietnamese research groups at JINR, the core is between the Institute of Physics and JINR's nuclear, nuclear reaction and neutron physics research groups, gathered staff not only from VAST but also from many other units such as the National Institute of Atomic Energy, National University of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Hue University. |
