The reception also drew the participation of Dr. Le Quynh Lien, deputy head of the Department of International Cooperation; Dr. Pham Minh Tuan, vice director of Space Technology Institute; and Master Tran Van Ngoc, deputy head of the Department of Planning and Finance.
At the reception, Prof. Minh expressed his joy on Guy Limouzin’s visit to VAST. Related to satellite, Vietnam now has the VNREDSat-1 satellite (Vietnam’s first earth observation optical satellite, implemented by the French Government’s ODA, presided over by VAST, and successfully launched in May, 2013). The satellite is operating stably and effectively in orbit. After five years, the satellite has provided thousands of high-resolution optical images, meeting the demand of relevant ministries and agencies. After the success of VNREDSat-1, Prof. Minh hoped that France and Vietnam will soon reach a financial agreement to implement VNREDSat-2. As for technical recommendations of VNREDSat-2, VAST fully trusts and supports the French.
Based on the good results of the cooperation, Guy Limouzin also expressed his hope that a suitable solution for the financing of VNREDSat-2 will soon be found, and said he looked forward to future opportunities for further scientific cooperation between VAST and French partners.
