Publishing House for Science and Technology achieves high performance at the National Book Awards for the third time in a row.

On 09/10, in Hanoi, the 3rd National Book Awards Ceremony in 2020 was solemnly organized by the Vietnam Publishing Association and the National Book Council. The National Book Award is an annual State Prize, awarded to books (book series) with outstanding value in terms of ideological, intellectual - aesthetic content, in order to honor authors, translators, scientists and publishers, contribute to discover, store and promote valuable works to readers; promote the publishing career to develop in the right direction and in line with the integration trend.

Attending the award ceremony were Mr. Vu Duc Dam, Member of the Party Central Committee - Deputy Prime Minister; members of the Party Central Committee include: Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Information and Communications; Mr. Phung Xuan Nha, Minister of Education and Training; Mr. Nguyen The Ky, General Manager of Voice of Vietnam - Chairman of Central Theoretical and Literary Critic Council; Mr. Hoang Vinh Bao, Deputy of the Ministry of Information and Communications, President of Vietnam Publishing Association, President of the third National Book Awards Council; with leaders of ministries, agencies, embassies, publishers, book publishers and award-winning authors. The organizers awarded 3 A prizes, 10 B prizes, and 14 C prizes for the winning works.

Publishing House for Natural Science and Technology, VAST was honored to win 01 Prize B for the book “Changing the coating environment and solutions for sustainable development in atolls in Spratly Islands area”- author PhD. Do Huy Cuong; 01 Prize C for the book "Modified Materials with Negative Index - Fabrication Technology, Properties and Applications" - author Prof.Dr. Vu Dinh Lam.

This is the third consecutive time that the Publishing House of Natural Science and Technology has earned high achievements at the National Book Awards. That is a proof showing the growing brand of Science & Technology Publishing House with many publications of high scientific value. Ms. Pham Thi Hieu - Director of Publishing House of Science and Technology; Ms. Doan Thi Yen Oanh - Deputy Director - Acting Editor-in-Chief attended the 3rd National Book Awards Ceremony, year 2020 and received the award.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam emphasized the importance of reading and the role and value of books. The National Book Award is an activity concretizing the interest of the Party, the State and the whole society in reading culture, contributing to encouraging and developing the reading movement, honoring the value of books and writers. Particularly, according to Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam: If the Vietnamese people want to rise, we must improve our people's knowledge and develop high-quality human resources. Certainly we have to learn more, read more and ignite inspiration for all Vietnamese to spend time reading, studying and researching to improve our understanding and nurture our souls. 

The third National Book Award is held in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic affecting many aspects of life - society, with the publishing industry is no exception. However, the National Book Awards still attracted the participation of 48 publishers (publishers) nationwide (an increase of 6 publishers compared to the second prize) with 362 books (an increase of 7 books) for 255 titles.

The Preliminary Examination Council, Final Examination, and National Book Award Council have invited a number of leading experts - reputable scientists, suitable for the book topic, as well as some young scientists of the Vietnam National University; Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical University; Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, and Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences to participate in the awards.

All winning books have to go through the rounds of the Preliminary Judging Council; Final Judging Council; National Book Awards Council. The books recommended for A Prize must also go through the closed review stage of leading experts in each field. Results through three rounds, the Third National Book Awards Council voted, unanimously awarded 27 books and books, including 03 A prizes, 10 B prizes and 14 C prizes.
