PROMOTING THE UNIVERSITY INNOVATION AND START-UP MODEL

Responding to the State’s strategic orientation on promoting science, technology and innovation, on the morning of November 28, 2025, within the framework of the USTH Innovation Week 2025, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) – Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology organised the seminar “University Innovation and Start-up Model”, gathering representatives from regulatory agencies, research institutes, universities and enterprises.

The seminar featured contributions from: Prof.Dr. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh – Rector of USTH; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phan Tien Dung – Director of the Department of Application and Development of Technology, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; Mr Chu Thuc Dat – Deputy Director General, Department of Innovation, Ministry of Science and Technology; Ms Tan Anh – Human Resources Development Division, National Innovation Centre (NIC); Dr Nguyen Van Truc – Head of the Technology Incubation Division, Department of Start-up and Technology Enterprises; Mr Pham Tuan Hiep – Investment Director, BK Holdings and Secretary General of the VNEI network; MSc Huynh Hong Mai – Deputy Director of the Innovation and Start-up Incubation Centre, Nguyen Tat Thanh University; Ms Pham Ngoc Tram – Deputy Director General of Operations, Vietnam Livestock Corporation (a Vinamilk member unit); Ms Mai Thi Minh Anh – in charge of intellectual property, Viettel Aerospace Institute (VTX).

The speakers provided multidimensional analyses of innovation models in universities, the role of incubation and technology transfer centres, and practical experience in promoting linkages among institutes, universities and enterprises.

In addition, speakers from enterprises discussed practical technological challenges and needs, expressing their desire to cooperate with universities and research institutes to seek innovative solutions, particularly in fields such as high-tech agriculture and aerospace technology.

In the context of deep international integration and a strong shift towards a knowledge-based economy, innovation plays a foundational role in enhancing national competitiveness and promoting the sustainable development of higher education institutions.

Responding to the State’s strategic orientation, USTH identifies innovation as a key pillar in the 2022–2030 period. The university is gradually realising its goal of building an “innovation-driven university” aligned with international standards, based on an international training model, a strong research ecosystem, and an extensive cooperation network with research institutes, enterprises and innovation-support organisations.

The seminar was one of the highlights of USTH Innovation Week 2025, reaffirming USTH’s commitment to making research, creativity and cooperation its core drivers of development, contributing to the promotion of the national innovation ecosystem.
